Visit Kaka Point during the winter to appreciate a small town of friendly locals enjoying the solitude of New Zealand’s southern tip. In summer the population swells, the camping grounds fill and a holiday atmosphere fills the air. Kaka Point offers everything you need for a relaxed coastal holiday. Its proximity to some of the Catlins’ famous beaches, lush rain forests and gushing waterfalls makes it an ideal base for your stay in the region. Come for a daytrip to find plenty of entertainment in and around the town.

As the northern gateway to the Catlins region, Kaka Point is a great stopover on the Southern Scenic Route, the popular driving tour of New Zealand’s South Island. A picturesque camping ground surrounded by dense native shrubs is just a short walk from Roaring Bay, one of the Catlins’ most popular swimming beaches. Swim in the refreshing southern water in summer under the gaze of trained lifeguards or bring your surfboard to challenge the waves.
