"The rooms and common areas were quite clean. The parking lot was well policed and maintained. Breakfast was solid each morning (I stayed four days and ate breakfast every day in the hotel). The location of this hotel is fantastic for exploring the bay area. You can get around by car super easy. But you can also take the Emeryville people-mover-bus (not sure the name) to the MacArthur BART station and then work from there. We drove into the City and Oakland a couple of days, and took BART and other public transit other days. It was a great experience for the whole family. There are parking charges, however."

"For the cost, it was just what I needed. I arrived after midnight, and easily found a spot in the parking lot. The night desk guy was a little slow, but checking in wasn’t a problem. The room was oddly warm when I came in, but it was easy to adjust the AC unit for comfort. I was foiled in my attempts to get a bottle of water from the several vending machines. They were all either broken or out of water bottles. The next morning I tried out the complimentary breakfast, which was pretty sparse. There was a waffle maker, which was fun. Some meh fruit, coffee, bland bagels and English muffins, and corn flake cereal. The only protein available were high sugar fruit yogurts. But an okay layout from a quick bite. Also, there are several great restaurants directly across the street, so I wasn’t relying on my continental breakfast for nourishment. There was always a “wet floor” pylon in the elevator throughout the three days of my stay, but the floor was only wet once. My only real complaint was the low speed internet in the rooms. I wouldn’t have minded if I had been trying to download large files, but even just FaceTimeing produced lags and freezes."

Hotel Shattuck Plaza

"We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Shattuck. The location was great with very quick access to the BART trains! It is a lovely, well maintained hotel. The only reason for 4 stars was because on our last evening work crews were replacing carpet in a room adjacent (or nearby our room,) so between 10 and 11pm we heard loud sawing and hammering that woke us up and kept us awake. My suggestion to the management would be to schedule this work during the day so as not to disturb the guests, if that is not possible then notify guests in advance or offer some perk for the inconvenience. Other than that, we would certainly stay here again. :-)"

"We enjoyed our stay at the Marriot. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The parking was $46 a day for self parking. The garage is attached to the hotel. As a guest, I feel this rate is excessive for a Oakland hotel with it's own garage. The room lacked a microwave which was disappointing as we use to reheat coffee and leftovers at times."

"Room was clean, staff we’re really helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was great… The hotel’s location really worked for us as we had to travel into San Francisco (train station is 2 blocks/5min walk away) and also visit family in Oakland. Overall, a great hotel👍"
