"We were really looking forward to our stay at this hotel but I’m afraid we left disappointed. Upon arrival, we found the building covered in scaffolding. It was scruffy, unloved and sad looking and not the best curbside appeal. The steps, artificial grass and surrounding outside areas were dirty and so were the windows. I don’t normally notice these things but I instantly did. The reception area was lovely as was the man who checked us in. The staff were all very friendly and can’t be faulted! Especially the 2 in the Cliff bar & restaurant. We had a lovely table in the bay window looking out to the dirty window, scaffolding and sea. Food was nice! We paid £126 for the smallest ‘cosy’ room and paid £25 upon arrival for the dog for 1 night (which seemed expensive!) it was a Thursday night. The hotel shares the Raddisson umbrella and so we expected a certain standard. The room was tired, dated and desperate for a refresh. The carpets are so old they’ve thinned and lifted presenting ripples. Other dog friendly establishments (which don’t charge for a dog!) often provide a dog pack or a bed, there was nothing. Not even water bowl! £151 is a lot to spend on 1 nights stay! The bathroom left a lot to be desired! The black mould, dirty shower tray, tile grout turned brown to name a few! This aside, the smell is what tipped me over the edge, and we could only open the window a few inches! Avoid room 205 like the plague, the only thing this hotel can boast is the location."
