The first stop on our 2 week visit to Peru was Arequipa. Our family of 8 was in town to visit with family for a few days before continuing on with some tours. We stayed in Palla and it was by far the best hotel we stayed in our whole trip. It’s new, well decorated, quiet. It has a beautiful roof top terrace where breakfast is served and in addition couches to sit on, relax and enjoy the views. The hotel is within walking distance to the Plaza de Armas where there are plenty of shops and restaurants to visit. There is a retractable roof that allows sunlight into the hotel by day then closes up at night to conserve heat, a fantastic design! We ate dinner one night at the hotel and the chef did an excellent job! The food was delicious! I have only two complaints and they concern breakfast; the eggs were cold and undercooked and the bacon was particularly salty but, other than that there were plenty of other things to choose from that were good and well presented. Finally, I want to give a shout out to the young man who tended the bar in the evenings ( I’m so sorry but his name escapes me right now) he makes the best pisco sours we have ever had and was generous enough to share his recipe and technique for making them. Overall, We want to thank all the staff at Palla for making our stay in Arequipa a very pleasant and happy experience! Thank you!
