Authentic Ryokans In Asahidake Onsen

"We cannot recommend La Vista Daisetsuzan enough. We skied Asahi-dake two days and staying here made skiing simple. The front desk was incredibly helpful and kind. The food was delicious, and the onsen was the perfect way to end each day. The hotel is older but updated in all the necessary ways. It has an ageless charm. The room was super comfortable. We absolutely loved every part of our stay. Quick tip: make sure to make your dinner and breakfast reservations before arrival. They send an email a couple of weeks before you arrive. As an English speaker, we missed it as it was in Japanese. "

"We had a wonderful 6 night stay. The staff are amazing and the food is incredible. The room was perfect size for a week or longer stay. Great couch and tv, with usb compatibility. If the bed and pillow were a little softer I would say it’s perfect. It was hard to leave."

"This was my first time staying at a Pension and it went wonderfully. My reservation was the room for two futons including a private bathroom. The room and facility are very clean. The hosts and owner are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast in the morning was perfect. I will be back again!"

"This place was great! Our room was really comfy; had our own bathroom; great kitchen and common space for cooking; laundry facilities; onsen; they also have a ping pong table. Would absolutely stay here again, just make sure to bring your food!"

"The hotel aesthetic is wonderful, the rooms were spacious and clean, the food provided was wonderful and the hot springs were incredible. The location is slightly difficult to get to as a foreigner (I speak very little Japanese but can read a little bit) but once there it was an incredible experience. Easily one of the nicest locations and hotels I’ve stayed in."

"Old school, old fashioned (read: dated decor, manual check-outs, actual keys for your room), traditional spa resort. The mixed onsen is great, lots of space and different temperatures so you can easily find your perfect spot. Definitely go half board as the evening buffet is excellent. Highly recommended."

"I enjoyed the abundant dinner and breakfast. many traditional foods. staff was friendly and nice even with my lack of japanese language. baths were run down. property was very old - needed refurbishment in the 1980s. compared to price of other nearby properties, the tradeoff (discount) was acceptable.
