The Old Lodge

"The property, decoration, fittings, fixtures and furnishings are quite dated, don't expect a modern contemporary hotel. That said, the property is undergoing a programme of repair and refurbishment, it looks like a long job. The hotel was perfectly adequate for our short stay, we didn't have dinner but what we saw looked delicious, we can vouch the same for breakfast in which we did partake. Would we stop again, yes I think we would."

"Bedroom and bathroom a bit dated when compared to comparable hotels. There was no USB bed side sockets which as really useful for guests with phones etc. Parking excellent with no charge. Good location for access to bus links to York City center."

"Great location and only half hour drive from home . Clean room and very quiet . Easy access to pubs only downside i have was once we checked in they asked for extra £100 as deposit as well as price for the room luckily i had my card on me as this wasn't stated when i booked ."

"This was the perfect place to call home for the week we stayed and explored Yorkshire. Excellent food, perfect location, cozy. The staff were lovely. AND, it was Alf Wight’s (James Herriott’s) favorite spot in Thirsk. We couldn’t have liked it better!"
