The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a nice casual dinner in the downstairs restaurant and a quiet stay in the hotel. The breakfast had a good variety of choices. Boltigen is a quiet little town (in May anyway, when we were there) and we were serenaded by cowbells while we waited for the train the next morning.
Very nice place to stay and very well-priced too which is not something you can always find too easily in resorts near (or near-ish at least) to Interlaken. The welcome and service from the staff was excellent and they were very kind in all regards.
The room was slightly old-fashioned but comfortable and clean so there was no reason to complain. It was surprising to find that what looked like a relatively older style chalet actually had an indoor swimming pool.
The breakfast included was very good, with the bread served still warm from being baked.
Certainly a good place to stay, especially for those on a hiking or sightseeing tour of the Berner Oberland.

Simple but clean. Decor from the 70s. Little overpriced in our opinion
We enjoyed a very cosy and peaceful one night with breakfast as we were participating in a sport rifle shoot in the area.
It's perfect if you love the Swiss-German countryside.
The character of the hotel is lovely and the staff really helpful and made an effort to speak French with us. The only drawback is that the deco is a bit dated. The pool area could be a really attractive feature.

Nice traditional hotel
Nice traditional hotel ideally located between Gstaad and Thun
Underbar liten alpby.
We completely loved the peace and beautiful view of the mountains from the room. The service from the people was great. The hotel was slightly away from restaurants but the train station was within a 5 minute walk and 10 mins train to the Zweisimenn with more options of restaurants, super markets etc. Our intention was the peace and quiet, convenience to travel to Gstaad and Saanen - for which the location was perfect. As for the hotel itself,it is beautiful and charming. The people were very nice. The room was spacious, pretty and clean. The only 2 negative points - the internet was really bad in the evening and the breakfast was too basic with bread, cold meat, tea, coffee and juice - for the price we definitely expected more.
A recommander !
We spent only 1 night at this hotel. Room is spacious and clean, bed and duvet very comfortable. Took the dinner at the restaurant downstairs and it was good as well. I warmly recommend. I keep this hotel for any further trip in this area.

Large hotel in small rural town
The hotel is very large and looks imposing. They have some conference facilities and a pool. The hotel is very old, which adds to its charm (the outside is beautiful), but the facilities are pretty dated too. Eg beige bathroom suite, very dated soft furnishings. The pool is a reasonable size but used by locals for aqua-exercise at various times of the week. The pool area itself is very bare and sparse. The people were civil and polite, but it would take a lot to keep the old-world charm of the hotel whilst pulling the facilities into the 21st century. It apparently has WiFi in public areas, but there is no info to tell guests about that - to be fair I didn't ask either. The breakfast was a good continental breakfast with local jams, honey and cheeses. To me, it seemed a bit expensive in view of the overall facilities though.
