"I was cautiously optimistic about this booking, and pleasantly surprised upon my arrival. The property is maintained immaculately, staff was friendly. Rooms were very clean, mostly everything looked new. No musky motel stank (it actually smelled fresh, almost like a new home smell), and really not much to complain about. Daughter loved the pool, and I have to admit it was quite nice, possibly the cleanest pool I’ve seen in a long time as the water was crystal clear. I was worried reading a review about bed bugs and got paranoid. I had a close look at the bed nooks and crannies, found nothing. I didn’t wake up itchy and rashy. Seriously questioning the validity of that review.
Sound was travelling quite easy amongst hallways and other rooms, but you can’t control how respectful other people are. I would 100% stay here again, budget friendly and staff (I’m assuming family of owner) were great. I can tell they take great pride in their business. "
"We had a lovely anniversary at the June. Harmony was a very knowledgeable and great hostess. The room was simple but beautiful. The bed was very comfy. The only thing the room didn’t have was an iron. I probably could have asked for one. "
"My parents had a fantastic time on their night away. They loved the books in the hotel and the food was delicious and they were given a special dessert. "
"What a great stay at The Lakeside! I give it 5 stars for the rare-in-Canada pros listed here, but there are a few cons.
Cons:
-Cost: but I must say it is a great place that deserves charging more than the average hotels. I guess the issue is that even the below-average ones are very expensive in Canada, increasing all places' rates;
-Pool hours: during the Summer, I would strongly prefer that the pool would be open until 8pm, at least, for overnight guests only. If the issue is pool service (food & drinks), I believe there is no need for the pool to have service until the end. 6pm is enough for the service - like it is now.
-Bed: The only downside at the room is the bed that, having an iron frame, made a noise everytime I moved during the night. A bit disturbing.
Pros:
-Service: outstanding! From the friendly front staff to the restaurant servers and pool staff, everyone has a smile for you and makes you feel appreciated!
-Pool: amazing! Water temperature was great, size is good (but it gets crowded on a sunny day of Summer), many chairs (staff went above and beyond to find me a place), very nice environment!
-Restaurant: service was awesome, food was tasty (calamari, burger' salad was 100%, pesto pizza...) and the view.... wow! Unforgettable. At night, the place gets charming lighting, cozy tropical vibes. The mosquitoes? Not welcome! But it is expected since we're right by the lake. The bug sprays offered are appreciated!
-The whole place decor: OUTSTANDING! Top notch!"
