"This small and charming hotel sits high upon the hill, overlooking a nearby village and the Oliphant Tea Factory. It's a quiet location, with stunning rooms - which is a welcome change if you're staying mostly in guest houses or big resorts. The staff goes out of their way to make sure everything is perfect, and the sounds and smells of nature were great - if you like the sound of birds chirping, this is a place for you. There's one tree with tons of them (they said 1,000 but I couldn't wrap my...

"We stayed 4 nights at Walaa Kulu, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The villa is truly luxurious, beautifully furnished, and designed to take full advantage of the stunning panoramic views that surround it. Every room offers a breathtaking outlook — the kind that photos simply cannot capture. The heated pool overlooking the lush green hills was an absolute highlight, allowing us to enjoy a relaxing evening swim even when the air cooled down.

"It was a bit far from the downtown area. But not an issue for us because we have a driver. They have driver's room, but not at the same place. It was one of the best stay for us in the 2 weeks trip. Highly recommend it. The only downside is the hotel is a bit hard to locate. Its up on the hill with a very narrow street. It was quite a challenge when we had a mini van to drive up the alley. "

"spotless rooms, comfortable bed, really helpful and friendly staff with good breakfasts. be aware the hotel is at the top of quite a steep hill, we enjoyed the walking but maybe consider using a tuktuk if you're not a fan!
overall this was probably the best hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka"
"The Staff were extremely helpful. We got a pot of coffee and tea upon our arrival.
The staff also gave us two umbrellas in case we go out in the city and it starts raining.
On the day of the checkout, we requested some to-go breakfast and they happily complied. They packed us extra pair of sandwich and a cup full of fruits and some whole fruits as well.
Could not have asked for more. Thank You Carnation Rest"
"I couldn't say enough good things about The Cubes Ella. We had originally planned to stay for one night, but ended up extending to three as we loved it so much. The rooms are spacious, with nice design touches and extremely comfortable beds. The breakfast options are delicious and the service is excellent. The staff really makes the place, we felt so well looked after.
A few shout-outs for the people who made our stay special: Rishard, the Manager, who is always up for a chat and makes sure you're happy; Primal, the Chef who's also a guide and can arrange many things (like the driver who took us back to Colombo), and our TukTuk driver Amal, who showed us all around town and was very kind and considerate.
Ella itself is a wonderfully vibrant town with lots of things to do and see, great food options, and beautiful nature. I definitely recommend Ella and if you're visiting, to stay at The Cubes. "
"Amazing views and vibe. Boutique classic feel to the rooms, which were comfy and clean. Great stylist. Friendly crew welcoming and with a quick check in. Would stay again in the future. Great walking distance to centre of town also. Cheers "
"This hotel is just amazing, the views from the rooms is second to none. The service is so good from the minute you arrive, they welcome you and make you feel at home. The beds are super comfortable & the amenities are great. Location is perfect as it’s right by little Adam peak and not far from the Ella town. One of our highlights was going up Adam peak & Ella rock with the in house naturalist - Gaya. He was absolutely brilliant and helpful in not only guiding us, but also showing us all the natural wildlife in the area along the way. He was so helpful and kind, and we would recommend anyone going for one of the excursions with him!"
