"We booked this trip and paid good money for a room with a balcony. On arrival we was told that the hotel car park was more then likely full due to the weather even though we didn't need to pre-book, not the best start. The que on reception was also extremely busy and only 1 member of staff on. We asked to reserve a table in the restaurant and was told it was full due to the weather (yes it was the best of the year so far) surely the residents should receive priority after booking, we didn't. We used the bar for drinks again this was sometimes a 20-30 minute wait and again poor from the staff with no cohesion as to who was next and waiting first, the communal areas are a little dated and shabby but this could be so much better with some TLC and staff who are much more approachable. If it wasn't for the weather this would have been one of the worst trips of 2026 for us."

"Hotel is in an ideal position overlooking the lake. Unfortunately our garden view room on the bottom floor was overlooking a large bush so no view of the garden or lake although it did have a patio door with table and chairs on a small shared patio. Unfortunately they are still in the process of renovating the hotel so we had a strong smell of paint in our room as it was just painted 2 days before we arrived which was unpleasant. The biggest disappointment was no spa or swimming facilities yet. We were told it would be at least another 2 years before they are built. All in all lovely hotel, staff were amazing, nice breakfast but we would not be returning because of there being no spa facilities."

"Clean room (although there were cobwebs around light and ceiling). The picture on the website showed a much nicer and larger room, therefore, we were very disappointed with such a small room that was three flight of stairs up and no lift - my husband struggled with this (due to his knee operation). The owners were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Parking was restricted as you had to find your own space on the road or at the time we were there, there were a few spaces to use, in the car park belonging to some flats next door. The pool was the biggest disappointment - as this was actually based at the MacDonalds hotel (in the town about 10/15 min walk away) and when we got to the B&B we were told the normal procedure is to book a day in advance! We got to the MacDonald hotel, but we were unable to park there (£25 parking fee) so went to look for somewhere else to park. By the time we managed to get somewhere we were running out of time to be able to swim and get to the next activity we had booked. Also, given that the hotel receptionist was dismissive and unwelcoming - we decided to give it a miss! This was such a disappointment as the main reason for booking this B&B was the advantage of being able to go for a swim! Overall, the whole experience of staying at this B&B was disappointing. "
