The George - Castletown Isle of Man

"Nice big room overlooking the town square and the castle with a balcony, however when I entered there were hundreds of black flies around the windows that took a lot of getting of. Food is nice and have eaten there before on many visits to Isle of Man, but first time staying. I was somehow expecting to guess where the breakfast was served as it wasn't pointed out that it was separate to the main bar, but once there everything was fine. Great location, car park is quite small, but there are alternatives nearby. I would possibly stay again as the location is so good, but it wasn't great value if I was honest as one night was over £140.. It was nice, most of the staff were great and I can't be negative in general, but just little things spoilt the experience."

"The room was small, and unfortunately, we were there while the temperatures were hot, and the fan in the room only worked partially. The hotel was nice on the inside and the breakfast was very nice. Front desk staff seemed a little pretentious."

"Functional room - had everything we needed. Dust from fan in bathroom on the floor. Room didn’t appear to have been cleaned during our stay - bed had been tidied and tea replaced so staff had been in. Breakfast fair - smoked haddock and poached eggs were good. Can safely say the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were the worst I’ve ever had - egg was a solid block of scrambled egg and grey in the middle, salmon really not good. Waiting staff were responsive but slow service from the kitchen - try to order as soon as you get to your table!!"

"Everything was great all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our we girl loved the pool and the play house We had dinner with you one night, we would have eaten more but, with our daughter’s egg allergy we found it hard for her to have food suitable. All the options she could have turned out they had egg in them even though it stated no egg on the menu. We stayed for 5 nights and one option was suitable. Staff seemed stressed, maybe more training to do with allergies may help. We had a wonderful holiday and we will Be back."

"They only replaced a broken fridge after 2 days, they tried to adjust the settings but they missed a basic fault that the motor in the fridge was not working.. Breakfast was not up to the usual high standard. Fried eggs solid and left on hotplate to long, other hot items very dry. Waitress’s more interested in talking to each other than taking action when we pointed out issues with the breakfast issues."
