This was a delightful Villa in the in the hills of Castelina. A family villa full of rich history and charm. The rooms were clean and the pool was a highlight to relax around in the warm Tuscan afternoons. Well
Situated in the Chianti region with close proximity to many restaurants in Castelina,
Castanaza was a lovely host and shared an amazing history over the centuries her family owned the Villa.
Wonderful spot to stop in between cities. Short drive to many vineyards (some require a reso) and Castellina Di Chianti is the beautiful quaint town with the best gelato we have the whole trip (and we went twice a day all around Italy). The pool with the beautiful backdrop was a nice way to slow down. Staff were lovely.
The Villa itself is beautiful and is a gorgeous setting. However, their road off the main road is not paved or lit. We didn't have our own car as we had a car service but we walked in Castellina each night for dinner, which is about a 25 minute walk. Coming back in pitch black wasn't the most fun! Also, they state their rooms have AC but they're glorified fans and do not cool down the room. Other than these two things, it's a very rustic and authentic Tuscan Villa and the owners are wonderful!
The property is an expansive old estate with a lot of charm and privacy. Staff were wonderful and friendly. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to Tuscany!
The owner has created a beautiful, harmonious setting with stunning view’s everywhere you look. We felt very comfortable as soon as we arrived, our every need was catered for.
Excellent stay in a very lovely and clean villa in Tuscany! A quiet and lovely place to relax. Very nice staff, excellent service and good breakfast with a view! Rooms were spacious and clean. Also, a very nice pool & bar!
We chose this hotel because of its location, as we were exploring Tuscany by car and needed a comfortable base between day trips. For that purpose, it worked very well.
The property feels like an old farmhouse, which gives it a unique rustic charm. The rooms are spread across the estate, surrounded by beautiful countryside, greenery, and complete silence. The views are stunning, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the pool is a nice bonus. The breakfast area is also beautiful.
However, there are some drawbacks. The shower had extremely low water pressure, and the room was fairly basic with a very small TV, which may matter if you’re traveling with children. This is not a full-service hotel with someone always at reception—we needed help one evening and couldn’t find anyone. There is no dinner service, and although there’s a bar, it never seemed to be open during our stay. You’ll need to drive about five minutes into town for meals.
Breakfast is decent, but food runs out quickly and refills are slow. The woman who appears to be the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, but the staff seems very small, so getting assistance can sometimes take time.
Overall, it’s a great choice if you want a peaceful countryside stay and plan to spend most of your time exploring Tuscany by car.
Details a little fuzzy! Some written info on Wi-Fi, breakfast, check out time etc. would have been helpful. We were told verbally but when you get a lot of info at check in, written backup would be nice.
This property is like living the best life possible. Costanza was the ultimate welcoming person. She shared the incredible history of this property from its original purpose of a tower in the 800's to it's sale in the 1200's & the stones being used to build the mansion for a wealthy family from Florence. During WWII it was confiscated by the SS who evicted the family & General Patton bombing it & kicking them out.
The original family returned, rebuilt it & still own it today

We stayed in the guesthouse and there was a water leak in the room. We noticed the leak around 8:00 pm. We notified the hotel and we were just given two buckets to place under the leak. Never were we offered a different room. When I brought this to the attention to the owner the next day we were not given any sort of discount and told that we ordered the “lowest rate room.” I told her that a leak in the roof is a structural issue and unacceptable. After discussing for several minutes the only amount of money she took off was the drink orders from the night before.
There were also a lot of bugs in the room and it had a musty odor. I personally did not feel this room was equipped for guests.

Helt ok boende
Gammal och sliten intedning
Bra pool
Dålig frukost
O hotel é muito bom. Tudo bem arrumado.
Hatte mich eigentlich sehr darauf gefreut. Das Frühstück ist - ok. Der Kaffee leider fast ungenießbar. Summa summarum- dennoch eine Reise wert.
Vi havde et helt fantastisk ophold. To voksne og to små børn. Det et familievenligt sted med charme og sjæl. Vi kan varmt anbefale stedet. Den nærmeste lille by rummer også charme og gode restauranter.
