"I had to cancel my stay at The Meritage Resort and Spa due to an unexpected medical situation involving my wife. I contacted Expedia support on the day of check-in and was informed that my case could be reviewed if I provided documentation. After submitting the requested note, the reservation was ultimately marked as a no-show and no refund was approved because the cancellation window had passed. I understand that hotels have cancellation policies, but the process was frustrating and gave me the impression there might be flexibility for medical circumstances when there ultimately was not. Future guests should carefully review the cancellation terms and not assume exceptions will be made, even in emergency situations."

"From the moment we arrived, James made our stay exceptional. He greeted us warmly and immediately made us feel welcome. What truly stood out was how knowledgeable he was about the area. He took the time to give us several great food recommendations, and every suggestion was spot on. The hotel itself was very clean, quiet, and well-maintained, which made for a comfortable stay. More importantly, we felt incredibly safe during our visit. At one point, we accidentally left our room with the door lock engaged, which prevented the door from fully closing. We did not realize it until much later that evening after being gone for hours. To our surprise and relief, absolutely nothing had been disturbed or moved when we returned. That experience alone spoke volumes about the integrity of the staff, the security of the property, and the overall environment of the hotel. James deserves special recognition for his outstanding customer service and professionalism. Employees like him are the reason guests return. He went above and beyond, and his kindness and attention to detail truly made a lasting impression on us."
