- A plane trip can be a stress-free experience if you pack the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between airlines, the general guide to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, spray paint and fireworks. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Opt for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to take a pullover in case you get cold in the cabin.
- The result of sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers during long-haul flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs and feet moving and wearing compression socks or tights.
