Lumley Castle Hotel

8/10 Good

"Lumley Castle is steeped in history. The layout of the communal rooms is a little random and not brilliantly signposted. Staff are all very helpful. Restaurant was good quality. Breakfast good. The rooms lack a few amenities like usb or even plugs by the bed. Soap and shampoo is all that is provided in the bathrooms, which is unusual for a more luxury branded hotel. All small things but would make a difference. but overall it was a very pleasant stay."

"First visit to Bowes incline and won't be the last.If it was on 4 in bed program I could be hyper critical on a couple of issues but I'm not.I always give a fair and balanced review's and this is what I'm doing,first impression of hotel was clean and well maintained,staff on reception were friendly and welcoming explained breakfast set up and evening meals.rooms are small but cozy for two and well appointed .can get a bit noisy in morning when people going for breakfast with doors banging.breakfast is well above average and again service is friendly and relaxed, decent portions of hot food and good selection of cereals etc.Evening meals in pub are reasonable and bigger portions than expected,again good service and friendly staff.its a really cozy clean place that we would definitely re visit.Its very close to the A1 but we didn't find traffic noise a issue, plenty of parking and we really enjoyed our stay it has just the right balance of everything we enjoyed."

"First class as always, this is our fourth visit and we are already planning our next one. From a seamless check in with an amazingly warm welcome from Nicola and Cheryl who remembered us from previous visits. The room was excellent and the housekeeping team did a fabulous job throughout our stay, nothing is too much trouble. We are in the Pin bar and once again the food was lovely and all people we came across were helpful and polite. We had a visit to the Spa, where the beautiful Lilly welcomed us back and as usual went above and beyond to accommodate my health challenges. After a challenging few months with my health, the spa visit was very much needed, I can't begin to say what a huge difference it made to us both. Every staff member is outstanding. We ended our visit yesterday evening at our favourite restaurant, The Fusion. The welcome once again was wonderful, the chef and his team created absolute perfection with the food, we never feel rushed and no matter how busy people are, they always have a kind word and mannerism that sets the bar high for other hotels we visit. Having mobility/health needs can often cause me to feel uneasy, however at Ramside, this has never been the case. Everyone is kind, considerate and if helps required, I'm not made to feel a burden, in fact the opposite. I would recommend staying here without hesitation. We love it here, if I could give it 6 stars I would. Many thanks to everyone for making our stays so special xx"

"Excellent stay for the price. Room was very well appointed with great shower and plenty hot water. Staff were very attentive and breakfast cooked to order at a very good price. Bar was available too although I didnt use it. Plenty parking available close to reception and looked secure. Would definately stay again."

"I can't speak highly enough of the staff at The Lambton. Check in was super easy and friendly and our room was even ready before check in time, Cheryl was wonderful. Adam was very helpful and friendly and went above and beyond for me when I had an issue. Fabulous place to stay and great location for shops and buses, had a great time, can't thank everyone enough."

"The check in process could be clearer I'm not sure if this was an issue with hotels.com who I booked through or the venue but I didn't receive any check in instructions and when I got to the location the restaurant was closed and I was sat outside nearly an hour making phone calls trying to get in. That said the room was lovely for what I paid and once I was in the staff that I saw were really friendly and acommodating. The location is perfect for where my office is when I need to be in Durham so I would definitely stay again."
