"Quaysiders resort is an apartment/hotel right by the upper side of Lake Windermere in Ambleside. It is in an absolutely perfect location close to the lake, shops, restaurants. "An elegant comfortable building opposite the park. We had a quiet room (2) at the back of the building with an opening single glazed sash window. No view but we knew that and were grateful for the upgrade to be away from any traffic noise. There was a recess with a rail for hanging clothes but no drawers which would have been useful, but there was a suitcase stand. Free parking. Reception was efficient, helpful and friendly. Good wifi. The ladies serving at breakfast, Joanna & Jan, were delightful and very friendly. The over bath shower handset holder wouldn’t stay still but otherwise it was good. There was a soap recess on the basin – a rarity on modern sinks, but no hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothes. A big mirror had a shaving point beside it. There was a radiator in the bedroom but the heated towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work. The grouting between the floor tiles was messy. The room was nicely decorated with a decent double bed with sockets either side. It had a kettle, tea, coffee etc. Breakfast offerings included cereals, fruits, yoghurts, ham, cheese, cakes(!) and a choice of cooked items. Rooms were only serviced on request which was fine. There was a reassuring recent fire alarm system which went off when someone opened the bathroom door after showering before the steam had cleared but not sure if the escape route plan in our room was up to date. Our bathroom had a good extractor fan. The TV worked without difficulty. Remarkably good value for money."

"I reported the following: upon arrival excellent welcome, the room wardrobe had the laminate on one of the doors ripped and could easily have come off or cause an injury ( on the hand) whilst sliding open, a few hairs were also found, on the desk. I received a sorry about that but nothing else happened. The bar had a bell service due to lack of staff or guests which sometimes entailed a wait to be served. The hotel itself is historic and great setting / location. It rained each day so not good to see the scenery , not the hotels fault though. The evening food choice was very limited but they can cater for the options with the à la carte restaurant. It was cold in the main restaurant, after guests ( my wife & brothers wife) complained it was fixed the next day, however it ruined the evening eating with coats on! Overall for wedding it’s expensive even though it was quiet. I would not rush back here from Brighton though"

"Nice hotel only just over 5 mins walk from the Railway station. And about 10mins walk from the Festival. I went to Carlisle Blues Rhythm and Rock put on by Solid Entertainments. The best music promoter in the UK. The Room was nice with one of them all in one bathrooms in them which I like. Shower was easy to work. Bed was clean. Wooden floor. Breakfast was pretty good. All hot food had lids on them so warmer than the terrible infa red lights at some other places where it is always cold. Staff nice. Easy check in. And Hotel handy for City centre and Castle. Town was clean. People very nice."
