"We have stayed at the academy hotel many times over the years and it used to be, hands down, the best place to stay in C.S. However, under new ownership, the quality of everything has gone down hill!! If you've stayed here before April 2026 and are planning another trip, lower expectations, because it is nothing like it used to be!"

"This location was a very good location in which to stay near our needed to be at locations. We had a decent room but the room was tired looking and in need of updating. We had one issue in the bathroom where a small roach came out and was dealt with immediately. The hotel could have made more money by stocking up the drinks and snacks area. The breakfasts were okay but better options would have been nice along with better coffee. The staff was always friendly and where they could be they were accommodating. We have not share some of these items with the front desk as we were busy trying to get to our various locations. We tried to even stay at another La Quinta in Flagstaff, AZ but they had a elevator that was broken and no more down stairs rooms. We did see that the pool was without water and that would have been nice to know ahead of the booking. The location was convienent to where we needed to be for the week. We liked that there were many restaurants and shopping options nearby too."

"This historically-themed hotel is a nostalgic, 1970s-era hotel with large rooms, a banquet area, a bar, a pool and arcade (yes…. Arcade) for kids of all ages . Very convenient access to several restaurants and bars within a 7 minute walk, as this is a downtown location. Approximately 25 minutes to/from the airport. The staff is really great. Notably, the onsite engineer David is awesome… very personable and very responsive. Give that guy a bonus. Parking onsite is under the hotel. If you make your reservations far enough in advance, you can get your room(s) for very reasonable prices. But.. it is showing its age. So, the restaurant was a tale of two meals: nothing special for breakfast, but their dinner menu was great! New dinner options included sliders, a nice charcuterie board for 2 or 3; nachos; and multiple burger options. A group of us (5 families, 22 people) returned from the USAFA Commissioning ceremonies with libations and food on our minds. The bar was well stocked, bar-tenders were both professionals, and the food was on point. Two days later, they closed the bar early (2100, vice 2200) so we were disappointed after the great experience two days before that. Recommendations: The property can really use a focused “retrofit” and a one-week deep cleaning that should include stretching all the carpets, cleaning the HVAC, and reconditioning the HVACs. We would stay there again.. and recommend this establishment."

"I didn’t like having to ask for hangars and kitchen utensils (primarily because my phone didn’t work). I prefer drawers vs cubby holes and the room needed another mirror besides just the bathroom. Room was clean & beds were comfortable."
