"None of the staff spoke English. Very hard to communicate.
Staff was friendly but clueless on how to deal with visitors from outside of China
Food offerings were limited. No restaurant, just a bistro
Very bad location, away from the city, squeezed in a tiny street. The entrance gave the appearance of going into a warehouse
Overpriced. Low value for money"
"This beautiful little hotel is built around a small courtyard that gives the feeling of a traditional Chinese home, with beautiful old woodwork and lattice bannisters and windows.
The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable, and the bathroom is large, with a self-flushing toilet.
While the building is not soundproof, it is quiet at night. The ‘extras’ in this hotel include a nice deck for guests to sit and enjoy the wonderful container-garden with flowers and succulents. There is also a...

"The first visual impression of Secret Manor was a very positive one- classic ancient Chinese architecture. We are greeted by friendly staff who took care of our luggages and sat us down. Refreshments were served while the staff worked on the check-in.
After which, the staff brought us to our room and explained the details on switches and other amenities. They also provide a “live-concierge” via WeChat where we can seek assistance from the staff. We had a spacious room that was clean with comfortable bed.
The selection of food at breakfast was a good spread. The dish that stood out was definitely the noodles station (mi xian soup) which is also a very popular local breakfast fare.
Special thanks to Kadi (the hotel manager) for all the tips he provided and his engagements. Overall, a very pleasant stay!"
"Excellent location to walkable sight seeing places, F&B and market place. Cleanliness and condition were at immaculate and very hospitable hosts, the sincerity were evidently displayed throughout the interaction. If you are someone who don't plan for your trip, your itinerary will be very well taken care of as guest. "
"What a great place , staff was super helpfull and help us with a guide for a day (ask for Nancy she is the best).
The hotel is clean and the rooms are big and comfortable.
As Dali's old town is closed for cars please contact the hotel a day before you arrive so they can help you with the suitcases. "
"If Dali’s romance is a poem woven by the Cangshan Mountains, Erhai Lake, and the ancient town’s lingering charm, this boutique hotel is the most heart-fluttering stanza within its verses. From the moment you pass through its wrought-iron gate adorned with French floral motifs, you embark on an immersive journey across geographical aesthetics.
Nestled steps away from Dali Old Town yet blissfully removed from main-street bustle, the property strikes a golden balance for travelers. Wake to mist-draped mountain vistas through your window at dawn, then stroll five minutes at twilight to melt into the ancient town’s lantern-lit enchantment.
Every corner whispers tales of meticulous design—stucco-carved dome ceilings, gilt-framed mirrors, and velvet sofas sketching Parisian Left Bank elegance, while hand-hammered gold-leaf washbasins hold pristine mountain spring water. Ethnic-patterned copper tumblers glimmer in morning light, blurring the lines between Provence and Yunnan’s rainbow-clouded lands.
Whether surrendering to vinyl melodies drifting from the lobby gramophone by day or surrendering to pulsating basslines by night, each moment kindles emotion. Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries pamper the senses, 400-thread-count linens cradle like weightless clouds, and even the discreet hum of a Dyson hair dryer whispers luxury—a symphony of boutique hospitality indulgences.
Here, where architectural poetry, indigenous culture, and sublime comfort coexist in perfect harmony, who could resis"
"My girlfriend and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect getaway. Waking up to that **incredible breakfast**—homemade, fresh, and so thoughtfully prepared—was such a treat every morning. The island itself is **pure magic**: quiet, untouched, and exactly the peaceful escape I needed.
And the host? Just **the kindest, most welcoming person**—not only did they make sure I had everything I needed, but their passion for tea turned simple evenings into these lovely, memorable moments. It’s rare to find a place that feels so special and genuinely cared for.
**Thank you for such a beautiful stay!** "
"The owner of the resort is very friendly. He provided some useful information about the area. The place is clean and quiet. There is a bath tub by the window overlooking the beautiful Erhai. My experience was awesome!"
