Horrendous - do not book
I booked a triple room for myself and 2 teenage children for a trip to Alton Towers from Ireland. On arrival there was 1 double bed and when I asked, they gave me a camp bed for my 6'3 son. I paid for a proper bed, not a camp bed that the springs popped on every time he sat on it. The room smelt musty and when I questioned it they said it was from the carpet in the hall, but there was must marks on the walls in the bedroom. No breakfast provided, which I was not made aware of and reception not manned in the mornings. No advice provided on where to have breakfast so needed to go to a local filling station, not exactly ideal. Linen was changed after 2 days but no fresh cups (only 2 provided for 3 people) no coffee/tea / milk etc left, 2 towels provided for 3 people - just so incredibly bad. 2 heaters electric heaters in the room, 1 worked. TV volume raised and lowered by itself...the list is endless, absolutely dreadful place to stay, we were in room 4

Worst hotel stay in my life
I stayed in room 16 and it was bad, the carpets had stains and was damp, there was spider webs all over the place and had actual spiders living in them, the room smelt damp, the bathroom had mold everywhere

I was concerned when I read some of the reviews but was reassured it was OK. The hotel needs some TLC and tidying up from its premier inn days which will bring down its score if they are careful but overall I was happy with the hotel.

Overall reasonable and value for money. Thought room and bathroom could do with some T.L.C. Bathroom had tiles coming off also unit in bedroom had seen better days. View from window was blocked by tall caged trolleys. On a positive note beds comfortable and linen clean and fresh.

Basic but lovely!
The room was basic but couldn’t complain. Staff friendly and the area it’s beautiful. Not fair from derby city centre but enough for you to feel in the county. Pub next door was nice as well.

Great value
Great place for a quick overnight stay. Tired looking in places but very clean and functional bedroom. Very quiet overnight, no noise. Friendly at reception, would stop again.

Poor service
Was told could check in from 2pm. On arrival there were no staff anywhere, tried phoning the number and was told he was on the toilet and would be there in few minutes, I phoned back after 20 minutes and was told he was waiting for a bus! Had to wait 45 minutes until staff arrived, offered no reimbursement. The double room consisted of two single beds pushed together. Room wasn’t the best, didn’t smell very fresh, and thin walls. Wouldn’t recommend.

Very good price, comfortable, with all the necessary things in the room. It is cheap because it is not all shiny and new but nothing was wrong. Only 5 minutes drive to university of Derby. I am staff there and need to stay over 1 night per week (paying with own money) so it was a good option for me.

Tired decor but quiet & convenient location
Stopped here for an event in Derby. An ex-premier inn, it is a series of bungalows (strangely) so you don't have neighbours above/below. They've even left the purple colour scheme. Quiet and convenient location for Derby with lots of parking space and really nice pub on the doorstep (though it doesn't serve breakfast!). Clean room but somewhat tired decor & poor finishing. A proper chair for working at the desk would be better. For the price, cant really complain.

For £46 it is value for money. Comfy bed and pillows. Room 23 has all the basics. All working nothing broken except chair which I returned to reception immediately to avoid £50. charge for damages. Assured that I wont be charged. The lobby to the entrance there was a strong smell of tobacco smoke. We are non smokers. However the room was free of smoke The bathroom sliding door too heavy. Toilet handle requires cranking and squeaks. Haven't used shower yet. The two electric wall heaters switch themselves off before we would have preferred. Oil filled additional heater clicked several times cooling down and warming up. So had to switch off to avoid being woken up. No sound from next room if it was occupied. Secondary double glazing in addition to double glazed units was effective. However didnt stop the deep bass whoofer sound penetrating the room from what seemed from another room near the road. Reception was friendly and helpful. Room was ready 1 hour early. Reminder of online warning that smoking in the room would lose £50 deposit. Several people seen standing outside their rooms smoking. Suggest brush strip at bottom of entrance door to room from lobby. No breakfast facilities. Bring own or try Mcdonalds because pub not open till 11am. Free parking. Nice location. Was able to park directly outside room. No obvious security. No reception but help can be called 24 hours. Leave key on table and close door to leave. Overall good. First time stay. Better than expected.

A happy repeat customer
This was the third time I have used this hotel. It is quiet, the rooms are large and the bed is comfortable. I will use the hotel again when I next visit the area. It may be worth knowing that this hotel used to be a Premier Inn so the rooms are very similar. I was pleased that there is plenty of parking available even though the car park is shared with the pub. The is wifi included which is excellent for all uses apart from streaming television shows when there is occasional buffering.

Dated interior with damp smell and loose fittings. Hair found in bed upon arrival and room wasn’t cleaned nor fresh towels given for second night. Felt like the beginning of an American motel horror movie

Noisy room with traffic outside and a constant whirring. Staff barely able to grunt a word and asking for an extra pillow was as if I was asking for a private jet! Did not say goodbye or thanks on leaving. Just silent and almost annoyed at me returning the key
