Top Douglas Hotel Reviews

The Empress Hotel

The Empress Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"I stayed here for the 2026 Classic TT & MGP . This Hotel is located on the promenade. There is a 24 Hour Reception desk. There is a lift inside the Hotel. Communication from the staff was great. My room was spotless but smaller than the pictures I had seen before I made the booking. You can ask for room service if you want. Breakfast takes place in the basement. They do bar meals from 11.00 am. Staff customer service skills were fantastic majority of the time. On 26/8 I got back up to do myself another slice of brown toast when I got to the big toaster there was two males already using the big toaster so I patiently waited my turn a minute later when I returned to my table to find my half cup of coffee & half cup of orange juice had been cleared from my table which was frustrating so I spoke up to the staff which I received an apology. I had no other problems at this hotel. They do have Entertainment on in the bar & piano every evening. The prices for Alcoholic drinks were overpriced"

Welbeck Hotel and Apartments

8/10 Good
"The room was adorable, bed was comfortable and storage in the wardrobe was great. Ample coffee and tea in the room w/ accompaniments and there is a small, quite useful fridge. I loved the chaise at the foot of the bed and the additional drawers that allowed a place to put and open my suitcase on top. Full, lengthy tub and great water pressure! Quiet and peaceful, with spacious outdoor seating. The lobby is adjacent to the bar, and the location is in very close proximity to the promenade and the water. My only two, minor gripes were not having the ability to control the room temp, and the partial shower door. The window only opens an inch or two at the top and the room was stiflingly warm, especially after a shower. The partial shower door let water spray and run all over the floor now matter how I tried to avoid it, and by the time I got out, the bathmat was soaked. I rang it out and used it again along with my towel to soak up the remaining water. A curtain or longer door would make a world of difference. They were mostly minor, and combined were the reason for one star deduction. I would stay again without concern, especially since there is a small lift available, which you will not find in most hotels here. That made getting my bags up multiple sets of stairs so much easier. There is a restaurant with a bar on site and they serve breakfast, but I didn't have anything so I can't comment on the food."

The Devonian

The Devonian

10/10 Excellent
"The Devonian serves as an exceptional choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking convenience in Douglas. Positioned just a short walk from the promenade, local attractions, and dining, it offers a superior location compared to many other economical accommodations in the area. Our guest room was exceptionally clean and featured the added comfort of a private bathroom. The morning breakfast was competitively priced, complemented by outstanding, attentive service throughout our stay. Accessibility Considerations Stair-Only Access: The property lacks an elevator, which is typical for traditional buildings in the area. Mobility Note: Navigating the staircasesโ€”particularly to the upper floorsโ€”may pose a challenge for guests with mobility impairments. For solo travelers or groups without physical accessibility needs, the Devonian offers fantastic value, and I would gladly return for future visits."
