"Manager very attentive upgraded rooms because of an issue with air conditioning. Small fridge would have been a bonus but everything we needed in all our rooms, extra water and condiments in hallway. Fresh fruit was a nice touch. Restaurant was 10/10. The only disheartening incident was being refused Scottish bank notes, it is legal tender, definitely not the welcome we expected. Scotland is still part of the United Kingdom."

"When we arrived just after 2pm it was like stepping onto the Marie Celeste. We finally found a few customers who told us that only member of staff doing front of house was getting ice cream for their daughter. When she appeared we asked about food but was told that the kitchen closed at 2 and that we would need to go out if we were hungry. Checking us in, she was very pleasant but hadn’t read my email sent a couple of days before to say we were bringing a dog which didn’t smack of efficiency. The stairs are steep and narrow and would not suit anyone with mobility issues or even pass current building regulations. The room was clean but cold and the heater, although apparently on, gave out no heat. The bedside lamp didn’t work although I was later told that it was just a loose connection; great if it gives you a shock! Nor did the light over the mirror in the bathroom. We ate in the bar in the evening when we were served by a very helpful young lady who seemed to be doing her very best in spite of having worked there for a week. The food was not great. When we went to our room the batteries in the remote were not working so we had to go downstairs and ask for new ones. For breakfast in the morning, again we had to go in search of staff. The lady was delightful and helpful and made a very good breakfast but she was having to juggle with housekeeping as well. I know staff are costly when not busy but might I suggest a minimum of 2 per shift to provide any kind of service."

"I booked this particular travel lodge as it was close to Sundown Adventureland but whilst already at Sundown, a friend had a look on google maps to see if there was anywhere to eat, during that time they informed me it was a truck stop, which had I known, being a single female with my young daughter, I would not have chose to stay here. Upon arrival, the exterior was extremely unkept, there was smashed glass in the car park from a car window which made me feel uncomfortable, the grass area we had to walk passed was so overgrown, signs on the door to ask for dirty work boots to be removed, which again, made me realise this really wasnt for a family stay. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, this is absolutely not aimed at them, they were lovely! We got to the room which was clean, basic room with kettle, no air-conditioning but there was a fan, the shower was constantly dripping and bathroom needed an update and looked grubby, no sockets next to the bed, in the end, I decided to just made the 2 hour journey home as I didnt feel comfortable staying."

"The only issue we had was there was no one to check us in, The contact numbers we had no one answered. We actually felt like we were trespassing. After driving around for an hour someone finally returned our call & messages and arranged to meet us. We had almost given up & were going to go home. Having said that we ended up having a really enjoyable stay :)"
