Leucadia Beach Inn

10/10 Excellent

"Just itching to share our impressions after spending 3 nights here. This is not a chain motel next to a freeway. This is a simple motel that has what you need but isn't "luxurious" by any means, is clean, convenient, and covers the necessities. It's a wonderful base from which to operate, not a place to spend all day. It's in a neighborhood with (e)bike riders, people walking their dogs, and small local businesses you can walk to - although you may not need surfboard or wetsuit repair. There are many restaurants nearby that you can access by walking or driving on smaller streets - and avoid the freeway. It's like being in a small town - in the middle of everything but (a small town). Moonlight Beach, about a mile away, let's you get to the beach with free parking and a short walk (down a hill on pavement). We've stayed on Motel Circle on I-8 in the past. Never again!"

Moonlight Beach Motel

"The motel is very close to the beach 4 min walk and it has beach chairs and boogie boards available although, they are older and well used. My room was very clean had all the amenities I needed and they were very nice to have upgraded me. The staff and manager were super helpful. They have a barbecue area with a nice barbecue to use the water. Pressure could be better at least in my room, but the towels were soft and fluffy and plenty of them. The beds were extremely comfortable and I believe the room must be soundproof because I couldn’t hear anything and there is a train track nearby. I would highly recommend this motel as I have been here several times and I’ve never been disappointed."

Inn at Moonlight Beach

"I've visited Encinitas many times over the years, but staying at the Inn at Moonlight Beach was a uniquely uplifting experience. It felt like a stay at an ashram: peaceful, meditative, and deeply rejuvenating. The details make all the difference. Upon arrival, a small selection of dried fruit with herbs from the inn's own garden and a pot of hot herbal tea were waiting in the room. The room itself was spacious, with an outdoor space facing the garden, which is lit at night with a soft, almost surreal glow. Everything is thoughtfully designed to make you feel welcome and a world away from the hustle of the outside world."
