"OMG. Skip going to Lake Louise and go stay at Emerald Lake Lodge.
The lake is superb, you can walk the entire way around, the accommodation is gorgeous.
We had a King Lakeview room. So beautiful, with our own balcony overlooking the lake through pines. Very spacious room complete with lounge and open fire for the cooler months.
The main lodge housed a beautiful restaurant (fabulous food and wines), a bar (with more casual dining), a lounge with huge open fires. There was also an amazing space upstairs with great views.
There was a cafe/lunch spot and a spa/sauna (that we sadly did not get to utilise).
There were additional tourists there during the day - although they stuck to the walking track and the canoe hire area - and nothing like the hoards at others like Lake Louise. But once they had all left for the day the resort was completely quiet and peaceful. So many stars.
There is even a secure guest parking area and shuttle bus available 24/7.
This was one of the highlights of our 6 weeks holiday in Canada."
