We enjoyed this rustic place with mostly a self-service operation. Not your typical commodity hotel! Beds were comfortable, bathroom clean, good hot water. Creaky wooden floors make the ambiance! Gathering room with a good assortment of vinyl disc for all tastes and ages. Good for socializing with other guests! Authentic if not old fashion facilities make this an interesting place.

Very pleasant accommodations, comfortable bed and rustic setting. I love the western decor of the room and nostalgic setting of the hotel. No front desk was not a problem at all.

This was a perfect spot for us. We walked to dinner and breakfast; was close to the McDonald Observatory, and had so much charm. It would also be great for a family. There was a fun game area that, if we’d had more time, would have been good entertainment. Don’t hesitate to book here.

We loved the location. It gave us easy access to the Davis Mountains and was very convenient to return to at midnight after the Star Party at the McDonald Observatory.

Upon our arrival we were expecting the soda fountain and restaurant to be open. Apparently, the hotel is for sale. This left us with few eating options. Somewhat disappointed.

Loved this place, very quaint. Very clean with plenty towels and sundries. The restaurant is closed but there’s a pool table, ping pong and foosball table downstairs. Rooms are upstairs, cool seating area there too. Even the squeaky wood floors added to the ambiance. Microwaves and coffee pots available. Each room had its own AC/heat unit. The only thing that could improve is communication with the owner/manager. We wanted to stay another night and weren’t able to reach anyone.

Very easy!! No reception but we were contacted by email with easy entrance directions. Older building so you can hear people when they walk down the hall but it wasn't a problem. Drug Store is closed but the pool and foosball tables were available for a fun game. Bed was really comfortable!! Great location, we walked to grocery, liquor store and explored park by the courthouse. It’s not a fancy new hotel but we loved that It felt like we were back in time.
