"We stayed here for a few days right after the height of Golden Week. It was quite empty and we felt as if we had the run of the place. We were the only ones who ate in the Western restaurant for lunch and dinner for 3 days. The food was quite good! "When we checked in, they couldn’t find our reservation record which we paid in advance to Expedia. we booked a lower rate room with no breakfast and have to pay at the spot (US$60 cheaper than what we paid to Expedia). When we checked out, they refunded us what we paid to them but not the amount that we paid to Expedia since they already received the payment from Expedia."

"The location is great. Lots of restaurants nearby, 50 yards from a subway station, and a bust stop also very close. However, the room was just ok. Kitchen had no dishes or cookware, so it was pretty much a waste of space. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have endured in as long as I can remember. It served the purpose. One thing I found strange was that the reception desk said there was no breakfast. However, on the day I checked out, I saw people eating breakfast. Go figure. "

"Had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at this hotel. It is a grand old hotel that obviously tries to keep itself to a high standard, but needs further improvements to the property and a bit higher standard of service for the staff. Still, I'd rate it a solid 4 star and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a stay in Guangzhou."
