After staying in a compact hotel room in Kyoto, the lodge gave me the sense of normalcy: spacious room with similar settings in the US. The only thing missing was a tea kettle. You could easily walk to the reception room for coffee and hot water though.
One other thing was the transportation. Google Map gave me a route from Mishima with one transfer to a local bus that made every stop along the way. However, your best choice is to take the express bus from Mishima to Kawaguchiko, and then take the train back to Mt Fuji station (only two stops), which is less than five minutes walk to the lodge.
What I liked the most was the quietness: there wasn’t a single sound in the night, making me wonder if I was the only one staying in the lodge.
