"The hotel is very central in Bari, and ideally located close to both the bus and train stations, for self-organised trips to the likes of Alberobello and Castello del Monte. The old city is just a short walk away down the premier shopping street. The hotel breakfasts were generally good, but the bacon was undercooked on several occasions. A visit to the roof-top restaurant in the evening is a lovely way to finish a busy day!"

"Such a special hotel in one of the most gorgeous cities weโve ever visited. Staying in a hotel built right into the cave made our whole experience in Matera feel even more incredible. Everything about it was breathtaking and unique, and it was definitely worth the stay. The spa in the basement was also such a nice bonus โ especially after walking up and down all those hills! We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back."

"Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita was one of the most memorable stays of our entire Italy trip. Staying in a beautifully restored historic cave in the heart of Matera was such a unique and magical experience. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still being very comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderfulโwarm, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh local food and excellent service. The location in the Sassi is incredible, and simply stepping outside the hotel feels like stepping back in time. More than just a hotel, Sextantio really feels like part of the Matera experience. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it!"

"Great property in an outstanding location near an entrance to the Matera Sassi. Clean rooms and comfortable beds were nice to stay in. In addition to the Sassi access and hotel cleanliness, the breakfast was truly outstanding. It featured a variety of coffees, pastries and fruits along with other breakfast items in an attractive, large dining room. The desk is attended at all times and the building is secured at night. My only mild criticism is better information on parking prior to check in would be a plus. A secured garage is under the hotel and available for $20 Euro per might. I'd stay there again, both for the hotel and the ancient attractions of Matera."
