"Finding the Looking Glass Beachfront Inn was somewhat difficult, and it would be helpful if the Inn's sign was more prominently displayed where it would be visible from the street.
A LONG stairway with 80 steps lead up the hill from the street to the Inn. There is also a tram or funicular elevator car available, but if it as the top of the hill as it was when we arrived you might not know it was there, or how to call it back to the bottom of the hill to use it. Once familiarized with it, we found it very convenient. The property is would not be accessible to many with impaired mobility.
The interior of the Inn is comfortable and nicely furnished. It is an old building and floors throughout are not level, which may be challenging to some guests who are not sure footed.
There was no mention of House Rules when we reserved our room, and the host never mentioned them at check-in. They are posted on a white board near the kitchen and many may miss them entirely. We thought the rule prohibiting alcoholic beverages was very odd since alcohol is legal, despite whatever Puritanical belief might have led the owner to post such a rule. Odder still, wine glasses were readily available for guest use.
Breakfast was good. The three-meat quiche was particulalry tasty. It was nice that there were a few snacks (chips, granola bars) available free to guests.
Very convenient to the beach with nice views from the deck. Walkable to downtown for those who are walkers."
