"A lovely hotel by Lake Towada that is beginning to show its age. It’s a perfectly fine place to stay, and it’s in a nice location, but it feels so empty, having such a large hotel with so few guests."

"This is an historic and rustic natural hot spring hotel high in the woods very authentic. A hidden gem. The staff was super friendly and dinner and breakfast included incredible. The hot spring one hot and one warm great to spend lots of time- supper mmmmm. My favorite place this trip. Not new and fancy but relaxing and special"

"Wonderful stay! 3 nights with two babies age 2 and 8 months, the staff were incredibly helpful, attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. The dinner was superb and breakfast varied. Unsure why such negative reviews we have a wonderful stay."

"Ryumontei hotel is a beautiful gem! The room was spacious and clean. The entire ryokan was designed around the gorgeous and huge Japanese garden which made every moment at the ryokan a picturesque moment. A must visit during autumn! The hotel was conveniently located within short distance to nearby tourist attractions such as oriase stream, lake towada and mount hakkoda. Oh and the dinner at the ryokan was out of this world! Sadhimi, crab, beef, fish, abalone... everything was presented beautifully! "
