A very basic motel, with poor application to the appearance of the rooms and surrounds. A classic example of only getting what you pay for.

Simply 'Third World' Sub-continent dirty. Freshly painted....over mould? Paint on floors everywhete, including archaic shower cubicle. Knibes, forks and single teaspoon unwashed, covered in ancient grime/food. Parking area heavily potholed,. Two coffee bags, 1 tea bag. One sugar sachet. Cold water sink tap and spring fell off as soon as it was touched. Cobwebs on ceilings. Pillows paper thing....we used well worn out towels instead!! Truely pathetic. Oh....and to be greeted by an Asian gentleman, looking like something from the slum area of Bombay/Delhi in a singlet, thongs and wrap around towel!! And no the restaurant is not open....in hindsight probably just as well. Truly BAD!!

This place has gone downhill. Yellowed and crumpled bed linen, beds not made properly and dirty glasses on the shelf. There are much better options in Hay.

I arrived after 9pm and everything was ready for me to go straight to my room. The room was tidy and the bed very comfortable. I slept very well. I negative is that the old style air-con is noisy.

Found it good value for money. Looking forward to seeing how the new owner restores this tired property. He is certainly keen to do so. We spent a comfortable night here and had an excellent meal at the nearby hotel.

Premises under renovation
The motel is in the process of being renovated and the host apologized during checkin for any inconvenience we could face. The only issue was they were in the process of changing over the hot water system and our room would not have any hot water. As it was a hot day, the water in the shower was warm enough. The room was clean but in need of some updating. TV was fine, we didn’t try the WiFi.

Didn’t have hot water service, person at the reception advised that they are replacing the hot water units at that stage and if we have any issue to advise. First had hot water and later after 9.00pm didn’t have hot water. Doors didn’t have any internal lock, building was old and floors, towels and bed linens didn’t look very clean. Person who was at the reception apologised and tried to offer another room to take showers in the morning. As per him they are the new owners and since our booking was done few months ago didn’t take cancel but didn’t take new bookings. Wasn’t a pleasant stay. Luckily it was just one night stay for us.

Booked 2 person stay for 1 night, while traveling on long road trip. We arrived late on a Saturday night, to find it almost completely full. There is no numbered car parking for rooms, so people had parked wherever they felt like it / could find a spot. We were forced to park far away from our room and carry our multiple suitcases and bags quite far to enter our room. While doing so, some unruly guests drinking and smoking on the balcony above us were watching us and laughing. Entered our room to find dirty stained carpets. Bed and bathrooms passable, but walls are paper thin. Was woken the next morning by the alarm clock of the person in the next room. If you’re not woken by your neighbors, the truck noise from nearby road surely will. Overall, the feeling was just cheap, seedy and overcrowded. Would not recommend staying here unless there is no other option.

Ok for an overnight but not in a hurry to go back.
Check-in was easy, room had everything you would expect for a motel, but the cleaners need a lot more attention to detail. The vacuum had obviously pushed everything it couldn't get just to the side of the room, so along the bottom of all the walls were dustballs, dead bugs, etc. Fridge was full of items the last occupant had left behind, no idea how old everything was. Shower door didn't close properly so water escaped the shower and got the rest of the bathroom really wet. Soap dispender in shower was broken. Overall, the place wasn't really well maintained and we probably won't stay here again when we go through Hay in the future.

We've crossed the Hay plain many times and think we have realistic expectations of basic motel accommodation along the way, however, this was inadequate rather than basic. The swimming pool was dirty, there was a toaster but weirdly no plates in our room and the staff couldn't assist with any suggestions for dining options in town and whether bookings were needed (incidentally Hay appears to have lost a couple of good family dining options in the last few years). These might seem minor but the most annoying issue was the absence of any hot water to our room. Would have made our views on that known to management but fortunately for them reception was closed when we checked out. Will avoid in future.

Located in a great area but is old and very worn, the floor was uneven and “hilly” in our room, curtains very worn and let in a lot of light, carpet and beds were very dirty and there was no hot water

This was a good site to stay over night travelling from Perth, Sydney and back to Perth. Rooms were very good with hot showers and plenty of space for parking car and car trailer. Staff were very helpfull.

It is hard to review because a young couple had just taken it over the week before so no doubt they will improve it. But as it is now. First the good. Bed and pillows were comfy and the reading lights were bright. microwave, plates and crockery and cutlery provided as well as tea coffee etc. Lots of fluffy white towels. It was quiet and there was good air con. Now the bad. Opened the microwave to find a puddle of dirty creamy milk stuff on the plate. Only provided one cup and one fork and one face washer. No door on the freezer of the fridge so it froze everything. There must have been a different curtain there which had deteriorated as there were bits of it all over the floor by the window. Outside in the courtyard there was a broken air conditioner that looked like it had fallen off the wall. There wasnt any cones or tape around it as there should have been. It should have been removed straight away really. It will be interesting to see the improvements the new owners will make. I have only given it 2 stars as it is not yet up to 3 star standard.

There was an unloved feel to the place - Reception area was untidy and poorly maintained. The room, whilst large, was very poorly maintained. The bedding did not appear to be well laundered. There was no water available in the shower until the next morning (and then, very low pressure); and nothing but a trickle ever came from the hand basin tap. Terrible. The pool needs to be thoroughly cleaned and properly fenced. I'm not sure how this place passes standard. Please invest in the place!

A nice option for a stop-over while driving from Adelaide to Sydney. Very convenient location, with lots of parking, quiet. The rooms could do with a bit of a deep clean - there were a lot of big, dead bugs under our night stands.
