"Lovely weekend at Milton Hill the place is lovely and clean although a little worn. The staff were extremely helpful and the food first rate. The spa area was ok but really needed more chairs or lingers as there was nowhere to put your towels while in the pool or jacuzzi etc. it would have been nice to have something to sit on while not using the facilities as there was only 3 tables and six chairs. Apart from that it was great."

"The room was clean and beautifully furnished and the bathroom was spotless too, with luxury toiletries. The motion censor night light in the bathroom was also a really thoughtful idea. I didn’t t have breakfast or an evening meal, so unable to comment on these. The only thing I would say was that I was surprised that access to my room was directly from the street. As a solo traveller, I was a little alarmed by this in terms of security, but Dorchester is a quiet village and there was not much noise from the road."

"So set your mind on a charming characterful much loved home rather than a hotel type setting and you will be happy . The owners are lovely and Suzie is charming and very helpful . It’s a little quirky as it’s a home so toilet and shower in hallway shared and the room didn’t have a key to lock when away and also significantly it’s not a breakfast as in bed and breakfast . However it’s right in town and lots of places to eat and the town is charming . Little slice of old English charm !"

"Lovely, helpful, personable staff, caring service from absolutely everyone, any time of the day, anyhting I needed. Something you definately can not get in big, chain hotels. The village is delightfully oldy wordly. Close proximity to Oxford make it a perfect alternative to staying in Oxford even if you have something to do or attend in Oxford. For non drivers, there is a frequent, reliable service from the bypass, just outside the village, a short walk through this beautiful village. "

"The hotel is nice, and the rooms are comfy and clean. The property has a nice character. The downsides are the rooms are very noisy and walls are paper thin. The wifi threw you off every 10 to 15 mins for our entire stay. Even when not busy it took nearly 10 mins to be served at the bar. The hotel did apologise for some of the issues and give a voucher, but regreattbly it didn't solve the wifi issue or the fact it was even noisier the next night. "

"Booked a deluxe single room and it was a substandard double. Not everyone would be happy with a double bed when booked single. Instructions were to message if arriving after 4pm. I didn't know an exact arrival time, however they asked for my mobile and time again, so could provide self checkin, so gave estimated arrival and mobile, then they didn't respond. On arrival it says ring both bells but nobody came for few minutes then sounded impatient as expected me to just walk in! Had to pre-book breakfast for both days at start. Told breakfast 8-9am, but still being set out at 8.15 on first day. Was not told how it worked so just had to work it out. Terrible hosting. Scrambled eggs had brown flecks through it day 1 and was more like fried beaten up eggs on day 2 with dark brown base. Both days was only luke warm. On day 2 cooked food arrived before I'd hardly started my cereal. I wasn't happy with my room either, very dusty, orange pips on the floor, a half drunk bottle bottle of drink in the bottle cooler, out of date UHT milk, no biscuits as shown in the photos, no mirror in the bathroom just fittings for one, shower head didn't fit in the holder properly and fell on me twice, shower temperature control did not work so too hot, (I tried turning it both ways!), extension socket from an extension sockets (how did that pass safety check?), one window had no closure and not a decent lock on door so concerned for my safety especially as all single glazed. Room scruffy "

"The room was clean and a good size but the carpet needed renewing as it was in bad condition.The bed linen and towels were excellent and the twin beds were comfortable. Our room and our friends room were "shabby".Paint work etc. I complained about the fact that the bath water went cold before I had run very much.There was no soap to use in the bath.Only soap available was fixed to the shower wall and by the washbasin. I was woken up at 5.35am on the morning we were leaving with a text message from the hotel giving a link for the bill to be paid. Following my complaints I was given a small refund. The hotel needs money spending on it to bring it up to a good standard. Our dinner on Thursday night was good - no complaints about the food and the staff were all lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Sadly Abbingdon was disappointing as there were quite a few closed shops and the remaining ones were not selling "quality" goods. Too many coffee shops ! "
