The hotel offers excellent value for money and is conveniently located near Amsterdam South and Haarlem. The staff is friendly and welcoming, although room servicing could be improved in terms of consistency.
The hotel is within walking distance of a beautiful nature park featuring two lakes.
We stayed at the Bastion prior to our flight from Schipol. The room was nice and the location felt almost rural. It was very relaxing and the breakfast buffet was good.
Need a car or shuttle service to reach this place. Simple, quiet and clean. Perfect for sleeping. Bedsheets are not tucked into the mattress and move so if you move the sheets come loose.
A quiet and clean hotel. All the receptionists( especially Renata, but also the others) and the housekeepers spoiled us with their amiability. The drivers from the shuttle buses were punctual and very kind. The breakfast was good and variate. Me and my husband spent beautiful moments at this accommodation. We definitely come back in the future at this charming hotel.
An overnight stay caused by a cancelled flight. The Bastion was close and a very good price for what it offers. The service was superior because the shuttle driver drove us to the sister hotel (there are two Bastions) as a favor, going off of his route.
The hotel was a bit hard to find because the driveway is kind of hidden behind bushes. The hotel is relatively modern, has 2 levels and has a great restaurant and bar attached. The breakfast buffet is amazing and worth the extra money. Check in was fast and easy and the room was on the ground floor as I requested. The bed was very comfortable. You have to insert your key into a receptacle to turn the power on in the room.
Easy check in, responsive staff, handy location. Sometimes hard to sleep at night due to noise from other patrons. Hotel has a bar which is open till 1am, so you get guests noisily heading to their rooms late at night, also the fire doors in the corridor close very noisily.
We stayed for four nights. The reason we chose this hotel is they offered a free shuttle to and from the airport. When traveling, your time is most important because you cannot get it back. The employees at this hotel and at their sister hotel do not understand the importance of not wasting the customer's time. The shuttle was never on time. We always had to wait. Once we waited over an hour at the sister hotel for the shuttle to come pick us up. After the shuttle arrived, the driver was very upset with us that he was going to have to take us to the sister hotel. This occurred during the day and normal working hours, not at night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The keys to the rooms did not open the doors. A lot of customers had to return to the front desk to have their keys redone so they would open their door. the staff never apologized or took responsibility for the error; Some of them even laughed and blamed the mistake on another staff member. All the staff I encountered acted as if I had all the time in the world to spare and that I was there to appease them instead of them appeasing me. They tried to reflect their errors and mistakes onto me. When an error occurred and it was often and not just with me but with others as well, the staff would say it was the customer's fault. The staff acted as if the customer could go behind the counter and correct the staff's mistakes. DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL. IT IS NOT A GOOD HOTEL .
