We quite understood that our room would not be ready before the specified time but, as the website had mentioned a snack bar/deli we thought we'd spend some time there. Unfortunately it had closed some time ago. Although there was comfortable seating in the reception area it was freezing. We subsequently discovered that the hotel is only heated for an hour or two in the morning and again in the evening. We ate in the dining room the first evening and found the food was mediocre at best. The breakfast, however, was extremely good. It's a pity that the breakfast times were incorrect on the website meaning that our travel arrangements meant we had to skip it on our second day. Overall, very disappointing. The hotel seems to be catering for coach parties visiting for evening meals and not for the individual traveller."

"The staff were lovely and tried very hard but there weren't nearly enough to cover the workload. We weren't in a hurry but at dinner it took 2 and a half hours to get 2 courses and there weren't a lot of diners. We ate on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and 3 of the meal options were "off" and all pizzas so the choice was very limited. At breakfast the next morning the food was perfectly acceptable but the only preserve available was raspberry jam. The stock control really needs to up its game! The hotel is in a lovely position so it really could be so much better."

"We stayed one night in Oban in our way from Inverness to Glasgow. A bit of a detour, but worth it. We booked last minute. The hotel has a superb view of the bay. Unfortunately we timed it with a large group of tourists staying there, and this seemed to have overwhelmed the staff a bit. We couldn't park in the hotel, and parked in the street overnight. That was ok. The staff accommodated that we could have breakfast earlier than the booked time. It was ok for one night stop, but maybe not more. Under different circumstances had the hotel not been busy with large group of tourists, I am sure the experience would have been much better."
