"Walked in room wasn’t ready offered to sit in the bar and wait. It was like going back to the 80s Butlins style. Dated hotel nothing warm and friendly and very dated & gloomy reception area was clinical and hospital like! Walked through the bar and out of the exit. Got into car and didn’t go back. Such a shame as had booked for a surprise for my husbands birthday. So dissatisfied. People who say first impressions count well this did and disappointed! Lost the money I had paid! Have travelled so much and never walked out before!! "
"Booking in was made difficult by the staff members poor communication skills. We contacted the hotel a few weeks prior to our stay date to inform them we would be checking in around 7pm. On arrival the room was extremely hot, the radiators were off so we opened the curtains and windows fully and turned on to max the supplied fan (no Aircon), whilst we went out to eat locally in Ipswich. On our return to the room a few hrs later the temperature was unbearably hot, despite the aforementioned steps we had taken to try and cool the room down. We went to bed and attempted to sleep, and so began the worst night sleep either of us have ever experienced, the heat did not subside...the only saving grace was that we were in the room and hour less than we would have been normally due to the clocks going forward for spring daylight saving. Breakfast was acceptable but again made awkward due to a different staff members odd communication. Communication on checkout was minimal which tbh suited both of us at this point, we were not asked how our stay had been. We will not be staying here again."
"The breakfast very nice, eggs cooked to order of you wanted. The room was decent, the staff friendly. The location was great or the theatre or the football stadium"
"Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked. Plenty of choice with continental breakfast too. Room was clean but a little tired in places. The shower head needed descaling but bathroom was pretty clean. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all an added bonus to our stay and very clean as well. The staff were exemplary. Very polite, helpful and courteous. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is very ornately decorated and furnished. A great base for exploring Suffolk. "
"Excellent staff, worth their weight in gold. Especially Ms. Brooke.
We had informed her about our son’s birthday and she ensured the room was decorated and a lovely card signed by all staff was left in the room.
Made our day."
"Fan went off every 20 seconds during the night, wasn’t aircon as that was switched off so not sure what it was but kept me awake all night. Door didn’t lock properly when vacating the room. Tried about ten times. Eventually got it to lock, but when I was inside the room had to put a chair against the door as I was unsure if it was locked from outside as I was a lone female traveller. Normally stay here for work but won’t be staying again. "
