"The property needs some repairs. Our keycard stopped working on our second night. We had to move to another room. Then when we tried to get in the bed at the next room the bed was sunken in. So we had to switch rooms again. Breakfast was good but we will probably stay somewhere else next time."

"Building was mostly clean, there was a live beetle crawling around the bathroom… the remote didn’t work the tv so I had to program it myself, the WiFi didn’t work after asking 2-3 time for a reset, it started working as we checked out.. "

"Upon checking in, they said we had to wait til 3pm to check in and it was 1.30. Was told rooms were not ready. We waited in lobby and about 30 mins later they said if we could check in early but it would cost 15$ extra. We said well that wouldn’t work because rooms were not ready. Then was told they had one . We declined and then they said ok you can get it early. Room was nice and clean , however it wreaked of cigarette smoke . We went to the store and purchase room deodorizer and it smelled better after using that. Pool was suppose to be open but it wasn’t . Breakfast was really good .. 4 stars on breakfast ! Sausage , gravy biscuits , eggs , waffles, juice , bagels etc all delicious . Coffee is only served during breakfast . Coffee pot was in room if needed . Hotel is behind a bar and it gets loud at night. Very sketchy area ."

"The Kress was an amazing surprise for my wife and I during a quick overnighter to meet up with some old childhood friends. I grew up in this area and the downtown district had been forgotten. It was great to see this place back to life. The Kress has done an excellent job restoring this old department store. The rooms are incredible with large common space and bedrooms. I wished we had booked an extra night. "

"We were evacuated due to the wildfires near our home and we booked this room based on pictures, etc. When we checked in I was very concerned with what I was seeing around the whole complex. Our room was on the backside and when we opened the door the dog in the next room started barking, when the women came out she had a huge dog on a leash and he continued to bark. Inspecting the room, there were was only one set of towels, not enough for two people, the tv and internet did not work, the smoke detector was disconnected of the wall and laying on the desk. I went down to the front office to discuss this and it was locked had to wait 20 minutes for the desk clerk to return. He gave us another room and upon inspection this had no towels, the cable box was missing so we told him that we would be leaving and to refund our money our credit card. No excuse and potential fire hazard. Do NOT Recommend."

"When booking it said nothing about the ice machine being broken, the pool being closed, and no hotel cleaning staff on the weekends. I didn’t even stay in my room, I booked another hotel, because I did not feel very safe. There were people walking past my door and windows multiple times and being loud, and the seal on the bottom part of the door was old and letting light in, because it had eroded and it didn’t seal the door properly. There were stains on the comforter and the sheets and the bathroom door didn’t even shut properly. People were knocking on the door next to mine and it sounded like they were knocking on my room door. I felt very uncomfortable and easy. I would not suggest this place if you are a solo traveler, or a woman. I did not feel safe in this area and I’m glad I was able to go somewhere else. There is also a no refund policy, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. I can deal with no pool or ice machine, obviously, but I would like for my room door to lock properly and for my bed to be clean, without random brown stains. I would like my money back but I never asked because I knew it would not be possible, but I would not recommend this place."
