Powder House Lodge has a very professional and courteous staff, and is conveniently located about 10 minutes from Mount Rushmore. The on site restaurant has great food and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again if I were to visit the area.

Great location for exploring Mount Rushmore and surrounding Needles Highway and Sylvan Lake. Cabins were clean and comfy. The restaurant was really good too. Nice pool and playground for kids. Highly recommended.

Great heated pool and little playground for the kids. Our room was by the road but the ac drowned out the noise from the road. I like a fan noise when sleeping but at times the ac was a little too loud, otherwise great stay, great food at restaurant also.

Excellent restaurant!! The check-in process was friendly and well-informing. The location of the lodge made our excursions to Mt Rushmore and Custer State Park very comfortable. One morning, I woke up to deer cruising through. Loved it!!

We loved the Powder House Lodge. On our way to Mt. Rushmore, heading home to Reno, Nevada. We made reservations while driving, took a chance and made the right choice. Excellent place to stay. We stayed over night and plan a return trip and stay for several days. The food at the restaurant was outstanding, as was the staff, our room and the surrounding area. A really good location to kick back and enjoy the quiet.

The room was not as advertised and did not meet our expectations. The restaurant was good, service at the restaurant was good.

Very friendly staff. Everyone made us feel like we were with old friends. Restaurant was excellent. Gavin our waiter was top notch. Our only problem was that we weren’t lucky enough to sit in his section for both of our visits. Room was clean and comfortable. Cabin decor.

Very spacious cabin #10. Across the street from the lodge. Very clean, didn't have spices or any wraps like tin foil. Your basic kitchen. Bring your own leftover containers and such, salts and peppers and spices for cooking . Very quiet even being next to the staff quarters. Pretty landscapes, bugs were not bad either. A week after memorial day weekend.

There are a lot of steps to the cabins or rooms up the hill. So, if you have old achy knees, think twice. We had to walk up 16 or more stone steps up a steep embankment to get to our room. Painful! Most cabins or room had wooden steps. The good part was the staff were nice, helpful, friendly. The on-property restaurant served breakfast, lunch and dinner and was very good and reasonable. Had a beautiful setting.

The cabin was quiet and cozy. It rained while we were there so we did not get an opportunity to utilize and explore their outdoor amenities. The onsite restaurant is amazing. We had an issue with one of our dishes but the staff bent over backwards to make things right. Nicholas, the restaurant manager, came by several times to apologize, make things right and followed up to make sure we were happy. My steak dinner was one of the best I've ever had. We will definitely return if we are in the area.
