John Yancey Oceanfront Inn

10/10 Excellent

"Good location on the beach with nice wooden patio on the dune. Clean room with fullsize fridge in kitchenette. Decent breakfast included. Near nags head pier. Great stay!"

Outer Banks Motor Lodge

"Rm 212 (2nd floor oceanfront king room) Room was great as always! Took some pics after our stay for posting so keep in mind it’s a little dirty now that we’ve lived in it for 4 days (& I had already stripped the beds - habit of trying to be helpful). We’ve been coming to this place for 20 years now and it’s great every time! The room was super clean and smelled super fresh and lemony upon arrival! The fridge was super cold and there were 2 ice trays in the freezer but also an ice bucket if you wanted to walk to the ice machine, there was also a microwave that worked good but is tiny (think dormroom, small but mighty). Did not use the mini stovetop but it looked updated/new. Not great water pressure in the shower but I expect that in OBX anyways. Love that there is a broom/dustpan in the rooms for when sand gets tracked in!"

Cypress House Inn

"We stayed at the Cypress House Inn in August 2026, I really can't say enough good things about our stay. We had personalized service from the moment we walked in, and by the time we left, Bill and Veda had us feeling like family! My mom, sister and I stayed in the loft, and it was the perfect size for us - plenty of room, and so thoughtfully appointed: dishes, silverware, even wine glasses (guess they knew we were coming!), a full refrigerator, microwave, sink, Keurig (and even provided coffees, creamers, tea, etc). The room itself probably could have used a little more light, but it was comfortable and decorated nicely, not over-the top like some B&Bs, and thoughtful touches in the bathroom as well! And the (included) breakfasts were amazing - always starting with fresh fruit, different kinds of coffees and teas, and better food than I've had in any hotel restaurant! The house itself is in great shape, very well-maintained, though the stairs to the loft are probably due for a little paint - but sea air will do that quickly. Otherwise, it was the highlight of our visit to the Outer Banks, and we'll probably find reasons to come back there, just to stay at the Cypress House Inn! Highly recommend!!!"
