This incredible Art Deco hotel has all the charm, elegance and tranquility you would expect of an exclusive hotel. From arriving at the parking garage to the turn down service, everything is perfectly balanced to give you a restful and enjoyable stay. The live band 'Art Deco Trio' were superb, their on theme style and music provided just the right level of ambiance and made the dance floor the place to be. The original art deco features and thees cocktails provide a unique experience - don't expect modern tech or multi channel TV, that's not why you go to this hotel. I must shout out the Chef, the food was superb whether you were eating breakfast, canapes before dinner of a light lunch, everything was beautifully presented and exquisite. Don't forget the sea tractor - what an experience! Highly recommend a stay here, for some well earned rest, pampering and a time travel back to the 1920 and 30s.

This is a magical place and they treat you like royalty. The experience was fantastic and such a lovely place to stay. Pilchard Inn as you come of the beach is a quant old pub with a nice atmosphere.

Exquisite
We spent an exquisite 2 night stay here . The comfort & beauty of surroundings couldn't be surpassed: So many birds & bunnies & bees & wild flowers in not overly manicured grounds . Various places & levels to sit & watch peacefully . It was odd to disengage - the remoteness from everyday hectic activity & absence of TV was refreshing ; as was the sea : in 1 morning we played tennis , swam in the sea & walked the length & breadth of the island [LOL] I wasn't keen however on being encouraged to not attend our dinner table at our booked time & indulge in canapes & a drink for an hour instead which was costly but moreover we were hungry & the drinks & canapes took a while to arrive [or not as per canapes on 1 occasion] . The food served was exquisite The 1920s was an odd period of contrasts but the style was very much celebrated & we found the surroundings & decor beautiful I very much appreciated being greeted with cold champagne on the sunny terrace when we arrived . Also , I am not confident of the safety of outdoor stagnant pool . [? I may be unfairly ignorant ] Many thanks

Really beautifu island and such an interesting hotel. Service was wonderful. But for me unfortunately the food was below average including the breakfast the next morning. If it was better I'd happily be back :).

A fantastic break.
The hotel has a fantastic location on its own island, which is 'cut off' (not completely, there is a sea tractor) for a few hours at every high tide.It's unique in its Art Deco style. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Food is good and the 1920/30s themed band with dancing 3 times a week is lots of fun.

We picked this hotel because of its genuine art deco design and the association with Agatha Christie books and films for my wife's birthday present. We were delighted with everything throughout the whole stay. Facilities, service, staff, dining and outside areas were exactly as expected. Staff helpfulness and friendliness in every area were above all expectations. The best thing was my wife says it was the best birthday present ever so worth every penny in my view.

Unique and fun experience, but small food portions in grand ballroom. That worked with the 7 course taster menu (the return.of which, with wine pairing, would be welcomed) but not with a 3 course meal. Also, more 'theatre' and dancing, in the grand ballroom, to make each evening an event.

Quirky, unique and lovely setting. Great bar staff and very clean. Room was pleasant but not luxurious. Appears to be cash-cowed with very poor general management. Unable to recruit/retain or train sufficient staff. Sadly many complaints over 3 days: poor directions to carpark, covered parking too small for large car, sauna booked (twice) but not switched on in time so cold, table tennis advertised but not available, they confirmed restaurant booking the day before but told on arrival it was closed, breakfast wait 50 minutes on day one, reception staff rude (did apologise when asked to by manager), black tie dinner in ballroom advertised to include dancing afterwards, but didn’t, kept waiting 75 minutes for luggage to be taken to our car by hotel car after check-out. Things got better when we complained to reception manager and we appreciated the bottle of champagne but standards kept slipping. This hotel is fully booked through the year at high prices and makes a ton of money (as the management staff told us) but it does not have the leadership, processes, training, or retention strategy in place to deliver. Very, very disappointing. We’d recommend limiting any stay to 24 hours and clearly does not merit the premium rates.

Lovely staff poor management - a tainted paradise
What a delightful hotel in an idyllic setting. it is difficult to write this review because the staff were lovely but woefully under equipped and therefore the service creaked terribly. the prices rto saty are high, so guests eithe have shedloads of money or more probably, like us, pushed the boat out for a special occasion and deserved better. The management should take a good look at this and sort things out. Pay decent salaries to attract/retain staff and also take a more hands on approach to running the place rather than leave it in inexperienced hands at peak times of the year.

Great location & excellent staff service. However; the room we stayed in was looking rather tired. Although the hotel is Art Deco, this isn't a reason not to have mod cons on the rooms, such as a TV. Rather expensive for what it is. There was a breakdown in communication between Hotels.com & the hotel, which meant the we we're charged for the accommodation when booking through Hotels.com and then the hotel also charged us. I only picked this up when checking my credit card statement.

Transport to and from island was very slick. Check in simply involved a glass of Champagne in the stunning Pavillion Lounge. Throughout our stay all staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Our rooms were very comfortable, clean and beautifully appointed.All meals were first class. Staying here was a wonderful experience.

Good atmosphere and wonderful views. The public areas in the hotel are very nice. However very very expensive for what it was. Our room was tiny and very much in need of decorating. No overhead shower attachment and lots of small issues. For example water & flannels not replenished , no chairs on balcony when we arrived.

This was an amazing place and so relaxing with great food and drink and very attentive staff - we loved everything about it from the Sea Tractor to the Pilchard Inn and the room - we will now be back every year to experience a little of this fantastic experience at the Burgh Island Hotel

The staff were very happy and very considerate in all areas of the hotel including the pub. There isn't much to say about what we didn't like to be honest. A wonderful time was had by both of us.
