The onsen hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. Facilities are quite new. Staff were very friendly and nice. In particular, we really like the private onsen. The walking street is just 5 minutes away, and the little local shops are full of surprises.
The property is located very close to all the main sites and public baths in Arima Onsen - all in walking distance. The property itself seems very new with everything being very clean and the facilities in excellent condition. What I really liked about Arima Onsen Koki is that it is a great starting off point for first time Onsen users. It has small public baths and private Onsen baths that you can use included in your hotel rate which is much more affordable than the major Ryokan in the area. Although there isn't any food services available on-site you can easily get a decent meal a few minutes walk away.
I have tattoos so officially I wasn't able to use the public Onsen in the hotel, but the kind owner said if I went in off hours and nobody was around I could go ahead and use the baths. I was also able to try 3 out of 4 private baths which were great.
A standout feature for me during my 2 nights stay was the level of warmth and hospitality which I experienced the whole time. Despite some language barriers every single person I interacted with was amazing and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The level of care they showed included taking me by shuttle to the bus stop for my trip to Kobe - confirming with the driver it was the right bus - getting me on the bus - and putting my luggage away for me. Couldn't have asked for more attentive and friendly service. Highly recommend.
