There was bed bugs crawling at night in the wall, bed sheets and comforter. I have never seen bed bugs so visible and they were fast and hard to kill too!! Even thinking about it gives me goosebumps. My husband didn't even sleep at all, just watching and killing them. We were too tired from a long trip so we had to suck it up for one night. And we just saw one of the reviews here recently that there's bed bugs. I wish we could have seen it sooner. I got bitten twice. There was blood after killing those that bit me. The room smells like murky and old. I can't even fit my face in the sink. I am already a size of a 5'1 asian. I can't even go to shower it looks really old and gross. They really need to update the room and get rid of those bed bugs. Ceiling has water marks too. The lady in the front is really nice though. The real problem is the room. Private onsen was good too.

Beware of Bed Bugs.
The parking is super far, you have to follow the hotel car to the parking site which is like 10 mins away then take the hotel car back to the hotel. Very troublesome if you want to use the car during your stay. The room was terribly small. The main door and toilet door knocked against each other so the toilet door must be closed in order to open the door. The hotel room is super old and I had bed bug bites from this hotel. The Pro is the location is very convenient, walking distance to the main attraction. I will definitely not stay at this hotel again due to Bed Bugs and Parking.
Either door can’t open if one of them is slightly opened. Very difficult to bring luggages in and out of the door.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Takamatsu. The onsen facilities are excellent and I thoroughly enjoy them, especially the outdoor onsen. The breakfast spread is good and nice. I also want to thank Mr Akira Miura who found my son’s debit card and took effort to return it back to us. Thank you very much and hope to go back again.

This hotel is old the twin room that we stay so small and uncomfortable the onsen its fine the service is good but about restaurant we are not include to our booking because we prefer eat outside so many restaurants and coffee shops can choice that's why we don't have idea about food in this hotel

1st time staying.
Service was awesome, enjoyed the Japanese Kai-Aen dinner & the complimentary glass of wine. Thanks for the anniversary present.lauggage was sleft at front desk as I was early & when I returned, they were already sent to my room.

I reserved a non smoking room but my room smelled of stale smoke. There were smoking rooms next to me and the smoke came into my room. The rooms are a bit run down and old. The onsen area within the hotel is quite nice.

This is definitely a 10/10 for me. I came early before check in time. I left my luggage at the reception, only to realise that they have put my luggage in the room. The lady staff is very friendly and despite the language barrier when she saw my reservation in English, I assured her that conversing Japanese is perfectly fine because I understand the language at conversation level. The food is great too. First time experiencing this on my solo trip, I would definitely bring my mom along in a different season. My mom can't handle cold seasons so I'm planning either summer or autumn, whichever dates are available for both of us.

Great stay and showing a bit of its age
The hotel was great and was showing a little bit of its age. Staff were helpful and their customer service was great. The food was good and as it is right in the heart of the town, we were able to walk to other free onsen bath houses close by. There is even one just across the street.

The hotel was reviewed before as 'outdated' When I've read this I thought that it's no big deal and sometimes people have high expectations. They But the hotel is so outdated and old that it smells a bit like a nursing home. I think it was already old and outdated with a need of change in the 70's Clearly this hotel is geared for packaged deal tours and groups Pros : Location - its located in a very central place Buffet - very good selection of food Cons: -old rooms that smell stuffy - not very comfortable

I never write negative reviews but there is always the first. Pragmatically speaking, here it goes: 1. Price was 250 per person per night. I understand that this is one of the famed Onsen tourist spots - I get it. 2. The room was about 10ft x 12 ft. You had to be careful when opening the room door because there is no 'space' to pull the door open. The bathroom is so small that the door swings about an inch from the basin and toilet. 3. In Japan, ALL BATHROOM are ToTo Bidet. This hotel is NOT. Shocking. I mean, we all visit Japan and expect Ramen and Bidet toilets right? 4. The front desk staff is great, the greetings were great, the breakfast staff is great. The hotel owners are the ones that are not reinvesting into the hotel. 5. The view from my room included some drainage pipe that was dangling since 1970. Again, the ownership is not focusing on maintenance. Hence, you wonder what else is not maintained... My conclusion is that this is an investment property that is screaming out for maintenance. I was not happy due to having a very high expectation due to staying at Fujiya (Niigata) where the price performance was ultra high (and we had Kaiseki Dinner!!!). Then again, you get to stay close to this great Sushi cafe just up the street. Good Luck.

Value of money - Good hotel
Hotel is old but well function. Room is perfect - sepatated shower room, toilet, wash room with small basin. They also serve us hot tea and onsen bun. In addition, they prepare ice and water too. Onsen rooms are also good - large pool size indoor and outdoor. Location is not far from center of Kusatsu town. Price is affordable, compared to other hotel nearby. We booked half board - dinner is on average but breakfast is over our expectation. Recommend this hotel if anyone plan to visit Kusatsu.

Excellent stay at Takamatsu Hotel
My family of 3 stayed overnight. Dinner and the buffet breakfast the next morning were excellent. Great service was given at the reception desk and in the dining hall. The Japanese-style room was very comfortable.

換気扇がシロカビだらけでダニもいた。 部屋は、古く汚なかった。 湯畑が近く 立地条件は、良い。かなり大きな旅館で東京(八重洲)迄送迎バスがあるので 旅館に確認したらお得に行けますよ。 改装を繰り返ししている。ベトナム人を多数採用にしており かなり頑張っているように思いました。 温泉は、とても良かったです。 又 是非行きたい🎵
