I never write negative reviews but there is always the first. Pragmatically speaking, here it goes:
1. Price was 250 per person per night. I understand that this is one of the famed Onsen tourist spots - I get it.
2. The room was about 10ft x 12 ft. You had to be careful when opening the room door because there is no 'space' to pull the door open. The bathroom is so small that the door swings about an inch from the basin and toilet.
3. In Japan, ALL BATHROOM are ToTo Bidet. This hotel is NOT. Shocking. I mean, we all visit Japan and expect Ramen and Bidet toilets right?
4. The front desk staff is great, the greetings were great, the breakfast staff is great. The hotel owners are the ones that are not reinvesting into the hotel.
5. The view from my room included some drainage pipe that was dangling since 1970. Again, the ownership is not focusing on maintenance. Hence, you wonder what else is not maintained...
My conclusion is that this is an investment property that is screaming out for maintenance. I was not happy due to having a very high expectation due to staying at Fujiya (Niigata) where the price performance was ultra high (and we had Kaiseki Dinner!!!).
Then again, you get to stay close to this great Sushi cafe just up the street.
Good Luck.
