"This is a wonderful old village pub with excellent food, great service and a larger than life Landlord. We stayed one night here, were made very welcome and enjoyed the great choices of dishes for our evening meal before a roaring log fire. The Whitby Scampi and chips followed by traditional 'Spotted Dick and custard was served very quickly and was delicious. The small bar was busy with locals and folk staying at the pub and it was a very friendly atmosphere. Our room was fairly small but...

"Stayed with friends for 1 night in a room with double sofa bed and separate double bedroom. We couldn’t fault the room or service at all. Staff were friendly and efficient and we felt really welcome. Dinner and breakfast were cooked perfectly and delicious. The setting is beautiful. Lots of opportunity for walks on the site or perfectly located to drive out and visit Yorkshire’s beautiful scenery. The leisure families were great too. Quiet, clean and relaxing. "Lovely place, great location on the high street. Private, off street parking is very helpful - the entrance to it is through a very narrow archway which was a tight squeeze for an SUV. The property itself is well kept & equipped. Very clean and nicely furnished. Communication from the owner by text on the day with all the check in info was very helpful."
