GDM Megaron Historical Monument Hotel

"We had a lovely stay at GDM Megaron. Our room was clean and comfortable with beautiful water views, and the staff were consistently friendly and welcoming. The hotel staff was also very helpful in arranging transportation and in connecting me with local vendors for our excursions, which made planning our stay much easier. The location is convenient and within walking distance of several sites and restaurants, and the pool is lovely after a long day of sight seeing. Breakfast was not included with out stay, which would have been a nice addition. We also wished there were convenient dinner restaurant option at the hotel for evenings when we returned late from excursions. One thing to note--the elevator is VERY small! If you are claustrophobic, it may be a little uncomfortable, especially with luggage. So keep this in mind. Overall, GDM Megaron is a beautiful, clean hotel with great views, friendly and helpful staff, and in a convenient location. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it."

"We stayed in a family room for a few days. A double bed and twin beds. It was nice, modern, big and clean. The twin beds were not great for adults to sleep on though but was doable. They had medium thick mattresses on a wooden solid frame. Like sleeping on a low table with a mattress which kept moving away from the wall. There was a sliding door between the bed areas. There were also 2 TVs but you could only watch one at a time as both were connected somehow so not great. The breakfast is free. The breakfast staff were nice but their supervisor didnโt have many manners. We wanted to bring a drink to the room from breakfast for our unwell family member and instead of asking us nicely he shouted at us and said no itโs not policy and said use the takeaway cups. We didnโt know there were takeaway cups at the time otherwise we would have used them. They do room service so didnโt see a difference of having a cup in the room. Room service was fantastic though, the food is really good and they make sure you get enough! We ordered pasta dishes and you get bread and everything with it as well, including a huge bowl of Parmesan. Very generous portions. The reception staff were lovely and helpful. The location is fantastic for getting around. Had a lovely rooftop bar area as well, great view."

"Hotel was beautiful and in a great location to the port, old town etc. Also had free parking which was a nice bonus. We spent a lot of time in the pool which was much needed respite from the heat. Only items to improve here was a bit of a disconnect between the day reception staff and the night reception staff re: our request for late checkout. Night staff said yes, then the next day, the day staff said no - so it made us scramble last minute to pack everything up. Otherwise - a great stay and would recommend!"

"The hotel restaurant and cleaning staff were amazingโfriendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the front desk girls staff were not very welcoming, and some information and arrangements were not handled properly. For example, we received a card for a complimentary cocktail at 6 PM, even though they knew we had a 6 AM early checkout the next morning. If you enjoy a resort-style hotel where you can relax on the property, this is a good choice. However, there isnโt much within walking distance, so itโs not ideal if you want nearby shops, restaurants, or attractions. Overall, a nice resort with fantastic restaurant and housekeeping staff, but the girls at front desk experience could definitely be improved."

"Good without being spectacular. this is literally a 3 star hotel and does the job for a short stay or a convenient location stay. Located about 2 blocks from the main street it has good access to most things around there to walk to. The room was very compact, balcony would be luck to be 1m wide. The aircon was great, the water pressure was good, Vanity is so tiny and has a shelf placed directly above it, making it difficult to shave or clean your teeth. the shower is small but expected in Italy Hotels. Staff at reception were helpful on the few occaisions i interated with them. There was only a hand held shower head, and no wall mount which makes it difficult to enjoy a proper shower. Bed was quite firm and was only made up with a bottom sheet, the top sheet had to be put on yourself if you wanted it. Knowing what to expect, it was cheap and serviced my needs so would probably use again if I stayed in Heraklion again."

"This was a beautiful hotel in a good location. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of options, The pool on the roof was lovely at sunset as well as the roof deck cafรฉ. Suggestion: it wouldโve been helpful to have hooks in the bathroom for towels and hanging up a bathing suit."
