The service was outstanding in every way. Rooms are spacious and clean. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. My only complaint is that Burley House is so popular that it is difficult to book. Certainly not your fault.

Returning to Malawi after thirty years, with my 20 year old son who has never visited the country, I was looking for somewhere to recuperate after the long journey that would give a good first impression. Burley House was exactly what I was looking for - beautiful garden, comfortable beds, welcoming staff - nothing too challenging before we set off to explore the country.

Burley House Guest House
Relatively new, rhe staff makes efforts to keep their guests satisfied. Internet access, contact numbers and Map needs some work. There are a few structural improvements that could be done, but understandably this will take time and money. Overall, an enjoyable stay. I would gladly book with them in the future.

The staff at Burley House are exceptional! They anticipate & cater for guest needs before guests even have time to realize they need a thing or service. All of the staff are friendly but also allow guests to have their own personal space. The setting is very tranquil & chic, & offers many outdoor group & individual work / meeting spaces with good wifi. The neighborhood is very walkable, & there are other guest houses & restaurants within walking distance if you want to explore. But it is not necessary to go out for meals, since the food at Burley is 5 star. The family style table encourages guests to interact & create a community of travelers. The airport shuttle includes concierge service all the way through immigration. As a single traveler, I really appreciated this.

This was one of the best stays I have had anywhere. The house is clean, very peaceful and quiet and you can hear the birds in trees in the garden. The rooms are a good size, well appointed and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. The shower is good and toiletries are provided. There a blackout curtains and mosquito screens on the windows and nets around the beds. They also off a laundry service for any of your clothes and a desk in your room where you can work. The hosts are excellent, attentive and super professional and nothing was too much trouble during our stay. There are vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast lunch and dinner and everything is homecooked to order. There is also a very good choice of breakfast options including soya milk. You can also eat in the garden if you want to and there is internet throughout the building. There is a small bar for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and a very comfortable lounge where you can watch television if you choose or have a game of pool. The house seems very safe and secure and the location is pretty quiet apart from commuting times when there is very light traffic noise. It was like staying in a top hotel but in the comfort of my own home and when I am next in Lilongwe I look to stay here as my first choice. I really recommend this place to all travelers looking for a home away from home with comfort, good food and peace and quiet. 5 stars from me!

A real find
Apart from the bed being a bit firm for my taste, we enjoyed our stay. The place is clean and very well maintained, with pleasing décor and furniture. It's in a peaceful location on the edge of Capital City, but access to town was easy. We ate dinner twice at the guest house and I have rarely found such good food in Lilongwe - or anywhere in fact. I've stayed in q number of places in Lilongwe , including the Sunbird hotels, but will now choose to stay here. What made the stay particularly good were the staff. Malawians are by nature a friendly people, but the staff at Burley were faultless.

Adequate continental breakfast. Good dinners at reasonable price. Small, intimate B&B type atmosphere. Other guests were quite interesting international business people. Inn could benefit from some updating and maintenance. Room keys are difficult to use.

Burley House is a lovely "oasis" in Malawi's capital city with a staff who cater to your every need in a quiet and comfortable location. Food choices are limited but very tasty, and it's a great place to relax at a relatively reasonable price. Bit hard to find and lacks signage at the main road (M-1), but that's my only complaint. I always try to stay there when traveling to Malawi.

Loved the Burley House!
It was not my original plan to stay overnight in Lilongwe; however, my flight was cancelled and a place to stay was needed. After searching for a hotel for some time I came upon the Burley House. After reading the warm reviews about this establishment I decided to make a reservation. The hotel staff was exactly as described - fantastic! The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing before setting out on a 36 hour flight home. The meals were also marvelous! My only regret was that there was not room for another friend to stay overnight with us, but the Burley House was full and our friend had to find other accommodations. I'm not sure if I will ever have to spend the night in Lilongwe again but if I do I know where to go!

A nice Bed and Breakfast
My wife and I live in Malawi. Hotels/Lodges here are a lot of money for what you get. We have stayed at some of the higher end hotels when they had deals going on. South Africa, Zambia and Kenya all of cheaper hotels that are less money but better service. The Burley house is on of the cheaper options. It is clean and the room is nice. It will remind you of a Bed and Breakfast type place. If you are from out of town and just need an overnight stay it is good place. The staff did a really nice job! We felt welcome and the evening staff went out of their way to get us tea and soft drinks. Some of the high end hotels in Lilongwe look at you as if you need to have a private jet to stay there. You will not get that type of feeling here. Very welcoming.

A tranquil oasis to catch up on work or just relax
A very comfortable relaxed environment, with a peaceful garden. Good wifi connections and a quiet atmosphere make it a good place to catch up on work or just relax. It is a little too distant from the centre of Lilongwe if that is your aim, but is also closer to the airport than most.

Reasonable hotel
The hotel is near the city center, but there isn't much in Lilongwe. The hotel had all the basic necessities and the staff were friendly enough. It would have been nice to have a pool, but apart from that the hotel was fine.

Well located for airport access, nice gardens with good security in place. Food was found to be basic but of a good standard. Room was a little tired but large clean and with own bathroom. Bar area was good with an honisty bar system in place. Staff were friendly and helpfull.

The hotel was excellent, well organized, well maintained with friendly attentive service - great attention to detail. Every guest was treated as an individual who was highly valued. The food was of a very high quality and individual needs were catered for down to requests for ice cream when it was not featured on the menu - little extras were no problem. I would highly recommend staying at Burley House, especially if you are on a work-related trip as we were. There are really only two very small additions that would have made a difference to me and those would be: tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a hairdryer in the room, but as I say, these are very small things. Excellent value for money.

Pete was welcoming on arrival to the beautiful facility. Lush garden, stocked bar, and comfy beds with aircon and nice mosquito nets. A great way to end our week in Malawi.

Just what I needed. Very clean, safe, and home away from home flavor and feel to it. Transportation to cbd and civic center might be abit challenging but most host provided it. Orherwise is was a thoroughly enjoyable stay...price was not too bad. Best pancakes I have had in Africa!!! Reminded me of Moms and International House of Pancakes in the USA. In sum,, I was very pleased with Burley House, I will stay again and....again in future.

The fixed menu dinner shared with the other guests was quite good. The lodge is fairly isolated but the staff quickly arranged a Taxi (someone's cousin) to show us around.

Lovely place to stay!
This was a great place to stay! I was only there one night but the staff were really accomodating (fixed the internet so I could have conference call and advised on places in town I could pruchase things). I didn't get to take much advantage of the gardens, but they were very pretty and the common areas (living room and kitchen) of the guest house were really lovely. It's a great place to stay if you want to relax in a qiet setting, or want a quiet work space. Nice that it was close to the airport as my flight got in late at night.

Nice place to stay, You will need a vehicle to get to town. Food was OK, hopefully chefs can be bit more imaginative in future, but did what ever you requested with any problems. Overall a comfortable stay.
