I cannot give enough positive accolades for my stay. The resort is stunning, all the food was modestly priced and exceptional. I didn’t have a single bad meal. The rooms were spacious and beautiful, and the pools were great! Especially the staff was exceptional. Each restaurant we dined in did not disappoint, you don’t even have to leave. Only gripe is the several day Indian wedding blaring their music during their festivities our entire stay. Could have done without that experience.

Babymoon perfection

The staff at Penha Longa were fantastic. Everyone was very accommodating and helpful. We spent 4 nights here for our Babymoon and were really pleased with our choice to stay here. My husband played 3 rounds of golf and I went to the spa for multiple treatments during the week. The food at the various restaurants was fantastic as well; we ate at Mercatto twice! We will definitely be back.

A true five star hotel

Our stay at Penha Longa was absolutely lovely. The service and the hotel were top to the finest details. We enjoyed our holiday with our toddler and never felt this welcomed. It really warmed our hearts to see how everyone paid attention to our little one. The hotel is located in such a beautiful venue and there was plenty of activities to do, our favorites were the spa and buggy rides. We will definitely return!

The room was nice and clean, good temperature. I love how spacious the room was, well distributed, with mirrors, a balcony overlooking the garden and the mountain. We had access to juice, sodas and water in the refrigerator. The staff was very friendly. They brought our luggage up to the room.

Dear Penha Longa, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at your hotel. While I had chosen to stay at your 5-star hotel to celebrate my child's 10th birthday, I was disappointed that nothing special was done to mark the occasion, despite assurances from your staff. Moreover, when I requested a golf cart, it was malfunctioning, adding to our frustration and inconvenience during our stay. Additionally, one evening, a staff member almost entered our bedroom without our permission, asking if we needed towels. This was completely inappropriate and left us feeling violated and that our privacy had been disturbed. Furthermore, I was also disappointed with the construction work that was going on during my stay. The loud and disturbing sounds from the construction site on the first floor woke us up at 8 in the morning, which was very disruptive to our stay. While I understand that construction work may be necessary, it is unacceptable for guests to be subjected to such noise disturbances, and measures should be in place to ensure guests' comfort. The property is one of the original monasteries of Portugal. All aspects of the facilities were excellent clean, neat, and easy access to all amenities. The room was beautiful with great view of the hills and surrounding geography. In general the staff was very good to excellent always helpful.

Definitely a retreat resort away from the city. Located closed to Sintra downtown (10-15min driving), sits on golf course that is fun to walk around. Two pool family and adult (both cold not heated). Rooms are spacious, breakfast is great but can get busy as it’s popular. Staff are friendly and incredibly helpful and most speak good English. Highly recommend.

Very nice Hotel in a beautiful setting. We spent 5 night and the first 3 days were wonderful until on the afternoon of the forth day an Indian wedding started. Three hours of loud drums welcoming the guest (you could hear it from the room) and the following afternoon again more drums for a procession ceremony that lasted another 2-3 hours. Hotels at this level should notify guests before booking about this type of event or (better) not allow the unnecessary noises.

I visited the property in March 2023 prior to booking for a trip with my wife and I in May 2025. The property is just run down. Capering needed top be replaced some time ago. Lobby bar was closed. Dining not available Sunday & Monday. I went to play golf, asked the day prior about the quality of the equipment and was assured it was brand new. Shame on me I should have checked before leaving the clubhouse. The equipment was FAR from new. To add insult to injury I found out on the first pay 5 the 3 wood was actually broken. Stunning ambiance for a property, but need a major investment to garner the rates they charge.

We had a wonderful stay here. Even though it was pouring rain the whole time, we loved all the amenities that were offered at Penha Longa. The staff were incredibly helpful and very kind. Every single one we came in contact with. The indoor pool and spa facilities were amazing! The beautiful chocolate were so special and we bought lots to take home. Our Junior Suite was comfortable and the room service was quick and very good for the kids. We loved our stay and would have loved to stay much longer. Great hotel!
