"I love staying here, it is my go to place when I badly need some downtime. Staff are still lovely and friendly and helpful (although sad to see some old faces now gone) Unfortunately on this occasion my Granddaughter and myself decided not to stay the night or have breakfast due to the amount of insects and moths etc in the room. Although there is a notice saying to shut the windows because of the above, the bedroom window wasn’t closed properly and our room had lots of midgies and moths in the bedroom. I know it has been unbelievably hot but it didn’t seem right to stay in a room where we would probably have been bitten through the night, so after the pool and food, and hanging around until bedtime downstairs playing draught, we decided to go home around 10.30pm - 11.00pm. Expensive few hours in the place I love going to, due to the bank holiday."

"We stayed in a superior room with lake view and was amazed on how beautiful the room and view were. We were very fortunate to have a room with veranda where we sat and just enjoyed the peace of our surroundings and the stunning lake. Breakfast was very nice as always and plenty to choose from. We didn't use to pool or spa as we were happy enjoying the sunshine and our veranda. Close to Chepstow Town centre. Friendly staff and easy check in."

"We stayed one night in the deluxe suite. The suite was lovely, very spacious but I noticed some things that let it down which I wouldn’t have expected from the Celtic Manor brand such as, stain on the sofa in the living room, marks on the paint work, two lamps were not working in the living room. The bed was nice but it wasn’t a super king, it was two beds together so there was an uncomfortable ridge down the middle. There was no complimentary water in the room, only chargeable! Also, no blinds in the suite which meant as the windows were floor length, anyone outside can see straight in! The facilities were ok, the gym had the heating on in 30 degree heat which was ridiculous! The pool was very small with dirty grouting and the windows looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned in ages! The breakfast selection was ok, but the sausages, bacon, potatoes were so dry I couldn’t eat them. Overall, I think the property is slightly tired and needs some tlc… and I must say, I was astounded that were were charged for parking when it was in their property… all in all 6/10."

"The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings and we were lucky to be given a stone cottage apartment with outside decking overlooking the pond and grounds. Beautiful! The staff were all very pleasant but overstretched and and quite stressed at times. Breakfast was good but didn't run smoothly. The restaurant food and service was very good.The pool and spa were really lovely and the gym looked amazing. Don't rely on trying to get a taxi anywhere. Our main reason for staying here was to visit family for a birthday party. The hotel rang for a taxi twice and nothing turned up. We waited for a full hour and ended up having to drive. Fortunately me managed to get a taxi back but it was expensive. Lovely place to stay in , would be even better if they weren't trying to run on minimal staff . We would stay again because of the location and facilities."

"The star rating for this hotel was 4 stars - so we expected quite a high standard. We were disappointed when we didn’t find that to be the case. We wanted a double bedded room but were given a twin bedded room. There was no wardrobe for clothes - just a rail. On the way to the room, something looking like crisps had been spilled on the carpet. It was still like that hours later. We had breakfast during our stay. We were told that breakfast started at 7am. On the first day, we arrived at just after 7am to find the dining room was already nearly full. The orange juice had already run out! The cooked breakfast was good with a good standard choice at the buffet. On our last evening we were unable to park in the disabled / blue card bays. My wife is a Blu card holder because she is registered with serious sight impairment. Not all cars in the blue card bats were displaying a blue card. So, for us, not the best of stays. We were expecting better. "
