We have loved this property for over a decade, and it never fails. Rooms are very spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Pet friendly and the staff are wonderful. It's one of our favorite places to stay anywhere in the world.
Enjoyed the boutique hotel experience. Room was clean and location is perfect for walking to restaurants and shops in the downtown area. Staff members were excellent and courteous.
The Craddock hotel was a quaint hideaway from the University congestion in Lynchburg. While known for its old charm, the amenities were limited for Marriott.
Pros: away from congestion near Liberty Univ., decent pricing, convenient to other eateries, friendly staff! Charming option for an Apple, pastry and warm yogurt each morning.
Cons: Construction near area, outdoor parking, limited amenities like offsite gym(YMCA), upgrades to mattress, cleanliness in room, the floor and bedding were gross, exterior windows were filthy, refrigerator was not cold, housekeeping never cleaned my room the entire time I was there. Obstructed view of river, upstairs tenants were noisy and walls are thin and lastly the charming freight train horn which occurred any daytime and nighttime.
First time to Lynchburg and we loved it. This hotel is a gem! Wonderful friendly service. They treated us to a nice bottle of local wine and the room was perfect!
I love the Craddock. It’s my favorite hotel in my city. It’s clean, offers friendly and super accommodating hotel staff. It’s refreshing as a staycation or for someone who is visiting our fair city.
We loved our stay at the Craddock Terry. Staff was SO friendly, the space had a great feel and it was plush and comfortable. We would highly recommend.

The hotel is a superbly repurposed industrial building which is uniquely American. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
Spent two nights because we were in the area to purchase a car. Very pleasantly surprised - the online photos didn't do justice to how lovely the hotel is. Old shoe factory and they paid homage to shoes everywhere you looked (but very tastefully done). Very clean and the staff was friendly and competent. Within walking distance to the town and other restaurants. There was a nice paved walking/biking path along the James River below the hotel - they supplied bikes and it was a beautiful ride. Continental breakfast (muffin, yogurt, fruit, OJ) delivered to your door in an old shoeshine box. We highly recommend the Craddock-Terry Hotel.
A really lovely hotel. It is near center of Lynchburg. You might want to drive into town. It is near the river and bluff walks. Easy walks to roof top bars and restaurants. Area is under construction right now. Just lovely furnishings in an old shoe factory with friendly helpful staff. Really enjoyed my stay. FYI - Not too far from Appomattox Courthouse. Really enoyed the ranger talk.
We love this hotel! We have come back time and again. The property is so unusual being a very old shoe factory turned hotel. The staff is always so pleasant. We love all the dining options just a short walk away. We will be going back!
Reception was great though a little bit chatty, TV did not work - only snow. Could not get Wifi to link and no info on same in room. BUT architecture and history, decor fantastic. Spent our time outside on lower walk area and awesome live music at The Water Dog. Best bkfst at My Dog Duke's Diner. Great town, good urban hike on the hills. New big fans!
Hotel was nice. Only downside is no high end free coffee-for this price…: also no gym but they do provide passes to local Y. They also have bikes outside to use. We are at Shoemakers and it was pretty good but not outstanding. Size of room was huge and staff was super friendly and helpful. Super walkable to local restaurants etc… overall a bit pricey for amenities available.
Fantastic experience - 5 stars for sure
Lynchburg as whole rolls up it’s sidewalks at 9pm so be aware if you are having a late dinner -
The elevator was being worked on but truly did not take away from the stay.
The continental breakfast is delivered to your room - not a social experience.
Very convenient in downtown
Staff is amazing - friendliest I have encountered.
Overall, this is a charming hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly. We really liked the onsite restaurants. I do have a few issues with this hotel though. First, I reserved a premium king room and the actual room size is nothing like the photos they display for a premium king on their website. On their website photo, there is a white sofa in the room. There would have been no room for a sofa in the room we stayed in unless it was leaning up against the wall. See my photo of our premium king room and compare to their website. Second, breakfast consists of a muffin (good), a small Chobani yogurt, an orange juice, and an apple. Both mornings we were there, the apples were moldy. And lastly, there is a train that runs right by the hotel that blasts it's horn going by. It runs late at night. If you are a light sleeper, it may be an issue.
My grandsons (3 and 5) loved the size of the room and bathroom. Very spacious. The 14' ceilings made the space seem enormous. They loved the different shoes on the doors, so we took a tour to see them all. Then we decided which ones we liked best. A great way for them to unwind after being in a car seat for 2 hours. The diffuser was fabulous. We all loved that aspect of our stay. The complimentary breakfast and the shoebox delivery system was a real treat for them, also. They loved having their own bag each morning. The location was perfect. We enjoyed many aspects of Lynchburg especially the ones for children: the Bounce Place in the Mall, the Aquatopia for animal interaction; Amazement Park -- totally AWESOME. 4 levels of fun. We were visiting Bedford to see family over the Fourth. I am so glad I chose to stay at Craddock Terry. The room allowing 5 was the BEST. I (the Gram Gram) slept on the very comfortable sofa. The people were extremely friendly, even though we had two rather rambunctious boys. I took one of them to the lobby for about 45 minutes so the little one could nap. We looked at the Virginia Living magazines and talked about the pictures. No one complained about his lying down (no shoes) on the nice sofas. We became the "welcoming crew" when new folks checked in. Many had dogs and were agreeable to let my grandson pet them. I could continue; however, I think you can tell how impressed I am with this hotel.
