This was primarily a business trip. The room was very clean, and the internet worked well. One problem with the internet is that the guest rooms are limited to 200 MB per 24 hour period. So it is fine for email, but not as good for surfing (if you cannot sleep). The bed was comfortable, and the shower was very good.
The hotel is away from the main tourist parts of the city, but close to the subway (which is cheap and easy to navigate). The neighborhood has a lot of night life, which is great, but can interfere with sleeping until about 2 AM. The windows are thick and soundproof, but the room will get hot if the air conditioning isn't working and you keep the windows closed. If you open them, then you will hear a lot of people talking outside until very late. It might be better to ask for a rear-facing room when you check in.
The local restaurants are good for all meals, but it is more likely that you would grab something quick nearby (several options, and easy to find) and head for the subway. The hotel is on the same subway line as the main train station, so getting to it is pretty easy. One subway transfer will get you the core of the old city and the main attractions in about 10 minutes. One thing to remember about the subway is that it only takes coins (no paper money or credit cards), so be ready for that, and the rides cost a couple of Euros. The main station has a few shops above it, but they would not give change unless we bought something.
As 2-star hotels go, this one was really nice, and is clean, comfortable and very well run. The price was excellent (off season), and there is a small bar downstairs. There are also several bars and restaurants all around though, so there are lots of options. It is the kind of hotel where you go to sleep, and then spend the rest of the time running around the city. But as a place to sleep and shower, it was really excellent.
