The hotel is situated in the country, near tall trees and grape vines, convenient to hiking in that part of Madeira. The views were lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly. For the 3 of us, the room was a bit crowded, but okay.

Outdated 4 star hotel but beautiful setting
Beautiful setting and nice rooms. Reception staff could be friendlier and more professional. For example, there is a difference between “take a seat” and “please have a seat” (during check in). Indoor pool is quite small. Outdoor was not working. Sauna is outdated and mouldy. Nice breakfast and breakfast staff.

As great as ever.
A return visit to one of our favourite hotels in Europe. The reception was welcoming, the service friendly, the breakfast excellent and the room and bed comfortable. Hope we can get back soon.

Just what we needed
A very relaxing break in a superb location. Unfortunately there was a rather loud wedding party which made conversation in the dinning room difficult but it got quieter as the evening progressed.

Stunning views over Rocha do Navio and picturesque surrounding gardens and vines. Sleeping to the sound of the waves in our sea-view room. Generous breakfast buffet & restaurant with more wonderful views from the terrace. Clear efforts to make the hotel covid-safe throughout. Plenty of hikes in the surrounding area for the more active. Highly recommended.

Adorei o espaço em si. Muito agradável tanto no interior do hotel como no seu exterior... Não gostei muito das piscinas. Achei muito pequenas para o fluxo de clientes que têm. Pena que pelo menos no quarto onde estive hospedada não tinha ar condicionado e fazia muito calor. Mas de resto foi tudo muito bom...

Relaxing, with good food
Relaxing place, with stunning view and sumptuous breakfast. Not necessary to have a car: bus 56 from Funchal to Santana is comfortable and very scenic (safer than driving yourself), then taxi 5 euro to the hotel.

Really pleased with this place...
Convenient place to head to straight from the airport but in a quieter part of the island. Super views from many public areas of the hotel and from our premium room. Great breakfast with local items. Bar and restaurant high quality. Staff lovely - awesomely so!

We had a lovely two nights stay here and were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. We signed up for Madeiran wine tasting 30 minutes after our arrival - great start. They have their own vineyard here so were very knowledgeable. The restaurant was fantastic and they helped us out with an excellent but reasonably priced wine. Breakfast was also good with lovely views over the cliff and a great selection of fresh local produce that differed slightly each day. Night two was a poncha making class...as we were the only two there was more than enough to sample!

We were disappointed with the room allocation of the villa as we wanted to experience the great views from the main hotel. Also only a buffet on offer and no a la carte restaurant. We did find a good restaurant in town the Estrela Do Norte

Tip top Cliff top hotel
The view at this hotel is all its claimed to be and the rooms are very spacious with excellent views from any balcony. But it appeared to us in February that the weather on the north of the island is not as good as in Funchal. A car is essential, but beware that turning off the main road not well signed. Restaurant was truly excellent (with a local menu also available) and not expensive despite reports we'd seen elsewhere. Only poor mark is the uninformative reception we received and lack of information on arrival, we were left to figure out hotel services and restaurant location on our own. Breakfast room and choice was excellent.

Wir waren mit zwei Kleinkindern dort (2 und 0 Jahre) und hatten vier wunderbare Tage hier. Das Frühstück ist grandios. Die Umgebung fantastisch. Das Personal aufmerksam und zuvorkommend - insbesondere auch zu Kindern. Die Ausstattung des Hotels mit Pools (innen und außen) und den weiteren Angeboten sind super. Wir kommen gern wieder und empfehlen vorbehaltlos weiter! :-)

Nous avons adoré cet hôtel! Le personnel a été très avenant, gentil et compétent. Nous avons été surclassé avec une belle chambre supérieure avec vue sur mer dans la partie plus récente de l'hôtel. L'endroit était calme et la vue superbe. Nous avons bénéficié de plusieurs petites attentions personnalisées. Le petit-déjeuner était bon et complet et le restaurant était sympa aussi.

Sensationelle Lage, tolles Haus mit allem, was man sich für einen ruhigen und erholsamen Urlaub vorstellt. Sehr zuvorkommender Service. Die Zimmer mit Terrasse sind am schönsten, haben aber ab 13 Uhr nicht mehr allzu viel Sonne. Tolles Frühstück und ein super Restaurant (auch für Vegetarier/Veganer) nebenan.
