"The cottage was gorgeous, in a lovely quiet location and parking at the back. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We only stayed a night but it had almost everything you'd need for a stay. A bit of soap in the bathroom and teatowel/towel and washing up liquid in the kitchen with some milk for a cuppa when you arrive would have made it perfect. "We have visited York on numerous occasions over the years and this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. The central location meant that it was only a short walk to the main attractions. The staff were helpful and courteous with check in and out being swift and easy. The choice and quality of food at breakfast was excellent. The rooms were modern, fresh and clean with all the amenities you would expect. The bathroom was light and airy with a powerful shower which was easy to use. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel ."

"The hotel was ok the spa was nice would say it was over priced for the room the bed was slightly bigger the matress was needing replaced it had no softness to it the tv was bigger there were glass tops on the table and the units in the room that had been cleaned on top but not under the glass so you could see all the dust under them but other then that no different then a premier inn nothing special the staff were very good and glad to help very polite and friendly it did have a btilliant view of the racecourse from the terrace of the room"

"Lovely old hotel with plenty of character. Room was fine - standard double for single occupancy. Sea view but there were plenty of seagulls. Facilities were good and meals in the harbour lights dining area was good for a pleasing panorama. Bar in empress lounge not open and the large screen tv did not work so we were unable to watch the opening ceremony and first match of the world Cup. Staff helpful and attentive but couldn't sort that. Nonetheless, I would stay again for the services and character overall"
