"The hotel and rooms were clean. The staff was pleasant. Plenty of parking. The kitchen was clean and stocked with coffee and tea. The grounds were well maintained with different seating areas including a grill overlooking a lake. Downfall of the hotel there isn't an exhaust fan in the bathroom which made the room hot after a hot shower or stinky if someone used the bathroom. The gazebo needs to be cleaned, Cob webs and dead bugs they made it hard to sit and enjoy. Besides that, the rooms, hotel, lobby, gym, laundry room and outdoor grounds were clean and well maintained. A lot of restaurants, bars, supermarket, and shopping 5-7 minutes away."

"Our room was om the 2nd floor. The only ice machines that worked were on the 3rd & 4th floors and those machines were usually empty by 7-8am bc a lot of people were using them to fill up ice chests and coolers early in the morning. The refrigerator in the room didn't cool very well & had no freezer section. I like my morning energy drink to be VERY COLD, so I would have to put it in the ice bucket for an hour or so bf i drank it, but if I didn't make it to the ice machine on the 3rd or 4th floor by 6am, I didn't have any ice that morning. There was also no coffee pot in the room & no cups. Those were only provided in the 1st floor lobby. I know these seem like minor grievances, but when staying in a hotel, you like to be able to stick to your home routine as much as possible & the lack of readily available ice in the middle of the summer & coffee 1st thing in the morning bf getting dressed was rather inconvenient."

"The amenities were excellent, but the room service was disappointing. I noticed a bug near my room door and asked the housekeeper, who was standing nearby, to take care of it. She seemed unhappy and told me to contact the front desk next time. The following day, the housekeeper did not return to service the room, which made the experience less comfortable."

"The staff were very helpful during my stay, particularly Ryan at the front desk. I'm hard of hearing in one ear, and he was very kind and respectful. Unlike most hotels, Red Roof Inn does not charge a crazy pet fee, and that added to the convenience of the trip. A cat showed up on my porch a couple weeks ago. I've been in the process of getting him healthy and was able to bring him along with me. There was a small deposit, and it was returned upon inspection of the room after the stay. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone traveling around the Newport News and Williamsburg area."
